I just want to rant a lil to fellow venos about rare pet capping. I'm relatively new compared to you guys so this may sound noobish. b:sad

I wanted a good air tank, so I decided to get a piggy. Waited for server maintenance. Logged back in and waited at the spawn point. Another 4 hours later and no piggy b:cry. Okay, I guess it's not meant to be. Saved up the coins and eventually got it off AH for 1.2 mil.

Eventually I read in PWI-pedia that rare pets only spawn about 4 hours plus after the server goes up. Okay, didn't know that.

Fast forward one month, I was in BH with another veno using a shaodu cub. OMG it is toooo cute. So again, with the maintenance over, I went to the bear spawns at about 4 hours after the server goes up. Went back and forth between the two spawn points for the next three hours. Again no spawn.

/sigh. b:surrender

Guess I'm resigned to hunting for it via AH or catshops again.

the shadu that spawns by scorpion valley has a pretty long path that it runs, and pet respawn is 5 hours after servers go up.

You should read the wiki about rare pet taming, it might help you. When you're camping waiting for a rare pet, don't run between spawn points. Sit at the spawn point and stare at your screen until it pops up. Seriously though, I don't get the point in rare pets. None of their stats impress me that much.

Lol true! I was on a quest to tame all the rare pets (minus the puppy because I don't like it) just because I liked the appearance of those pets. That was during the first ~9 months of my gameplay. Right now I only have the Windwalking Piggy for air questins/tanking. The Shaodu Cub with a lot memories attached to it and thus I refuse to get rid of it despite it being pretty obsolete after I got my Hercules and the Kowlin for DD/pulls/etc. etc. I still have the Froggy in bank because it's cute...same for my Snow Hare. I don't remember what I did with my Tabby though DX They aren't all that awesome but it was a fun accomplishment I had set with my friends. We would go to the spawns together and such. It was fun.

To the OP - check the Rare Pet Taming guides in Pw wiki. Rare pet taming is not as profitable as before some Venomancers actually stopped camping them. Most likely the pet was killed or wasn't killed and is running miles away from its spawn point.

Tanks are awesome, but might I suggest a sawfly with bleed? Sawfly has mediocre defense and isn't good at takign damage so you have to heal it a lot more than a piggy, but with flesh ream and bash things die so fast it really doesn't matter overall

That is, if your problem is that you can't get a piggy or something, feel free to ignore if you haz one :O

I did consider the sawfly but after seeing the Piggy I knew it has to be the Piggy b:pleased.

I named it Oink.

The cub is going for 2 mil plus in AH. Can't afford it since I am also saving up for a level 80 weapon. b:sad

So I am sticking to my faithful ol' Walker, Icicle.

I still keep my old Foxwing (Squicky), Wolf (unnamed) and Undine (Wispy) around, though not in the pet bag cuz I only have 5 of them. All of them shared memorable moments with me and I will never trash them. Using an Elder Tortoise as a water pet and will eventually get a Plumpfish.

I just saw a thread about this the other day; but I don't remember what the name of it was; or I'd refer you to it. (sigh)

Anyhow; on Dreamweaver, which is an East Coast Server and coincidentally the same time zone as me; the spawn time is usually between 4-5 hours after the server comes back up; which for my time zone is usually about 4- 4:30 in the morning; depending on how the maintenance goes. I add 4 hours to that; which if it was 4am my time would put me at 8am my time as the spawn time. I get to the location at around 7:50am and wait staring at the screen Twelve hours after it's been tamed or killed; it will spawn in again. The catch with that is; if someone isn't there for the first time after the servers come back up to tame/kill it; who knows what the spawn time will be until the next update ( It also seems like; even if someone is there for every spawn time to tame/kill it; the spawn time starts to get a little bit later each time. Like now, since we haven't had maintenance for 2 weeks straight; I wouldn't even want to venture a guess as to what time it's spawning in at.

I heard/read that the shadou cub always spawns in first; which seems to be fairly accurate info. I also heard that the piggy spawns in right around the same time. Not quite so sure about that. Also; it's been my experience that the kowlin and armored bear spawn in right around the same time as the cub, too. So, I pretty much just choose which one I want to try for & go there. (Some Venos seem to make it to all of them; still not quite sure how they pull that off and I'm level 98, lol. I think they must use teleport stones or something.) About 5-10 minutes after the cub comes the kitty; and the puppy is always last. Not sure about the frog. The snow hare spawns once an hour up on the path behind Etherblade; which is why it's only considered semi-rare. There's also one that spawns outside City of a Thousand Streams about once an hour! I freaked the first time I saw it out there a couple of months ago! And nobody talks about that one, either.
