    I know, axe BM is cool at TW. How about PvP/PvE with no APS, with pure axe build?

      You are asking this as a 103 BM on a PvP server? Who started in Feb 09? Did you buy this account? Btw every weapon has APS.

      What does it matter when the account was created? Maybe he was always a Fist BM and just wanted to know. Some people do stick their head in the sand and just follow the most conventional bandwagon build or whatever is cheapest.

      Lemme help you out here:

      TW. Pure axe build is fine because in mass pk our job is to build chi, stun lock, and HF. Basically you design a barb with no other purpose than aoe stun and you are golden for TW.

      PvP. Axes suck except for two reasons. Spike damage to jump a charm tick, and... no wait. Just the one reason. Axes suck except for spike dmg and without CCing (which you don't do for ethical and skill based reasons) you will not be able to jump a charm tick on any decently geared oponent. Axes just can't dish out the dps to kill someone before *tick.... tick... tick... even HFing or triple sparking. Granted this doesn't apply pre level 90, before high def, def levels, and highly refined gear. Feel free to go kill level 70's and 80's with axes.

      PvE. With the slightest inklet of ability you will not need the higher hp a vit axe build would grant (its not much more, anyways) and even pure strength axe build would deal a fraction of the dps a -int claw build would give (you'd deal somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-25% their dps with equal gear).


      Lemme help you out some more:

      Stop arguing with people who obviously know the game muuuuch more than you do. If your argument is "they have no life" then you shouldn't be posting from a level 103 BM and bragging about how long you've played. All that proves is you are accusing them of having no life based on your own personal experience, and that they have mastered the game more in a shorter time, making you look stoopid.

      OK, I'll be somewhat nice and give a semi-serious answer. What you choose to pay attention to is entirely up to you and is of no fault of my own.

      A pure axe BM is practically useless outside of TW and RB. They lack accuracy and basic DPS. Now, granted, axe BMs were the "thing" way back before the introduction of interval gear simply because of the damage that they could withstand. A vit based axe BM was ideal for TW due to the HP and a strength based axe BM was best for rebirth to help share the agro.

      But, since the game has changed over the years, a pure axe BM, as previously stated, is pretty useless. And, as stated by Sakubatou, an axe BM is unable to deal out enough damage, on an equally geared player, to kill them. As far as an axe BM in PvE situations, personally I wouldn't want to have one in squad unless we were in rebirth. The damage output would be so much lower than that of the rest of the squad, which would make the runs longer; and that would interfere with my plans of doing multiple, fast runs for profit. I would take a 2.86 sin along, but not an axe BM.

      Now, for the semi serious part:

      I, as well as most others who have posted, would assume that after three years of playing the game, that wouldn't need to ask this question in the first place. So it leaves me to wonder a couple of things:

      How did you get to level 103 in the first place?

      and

      Why would you feel the need to ask this question?

      Even at 90+, one would assume that you knew how to play, at least somewhat effectively.

      Even so, I'm fairly sure that the R9 BM that you saw also had an interval set stashed somewhere for at least PvE situations. But hey, I could be wrong.

      In the end, do whatever you feel like doing, just be prepared to accept the consequences if others do not necessarily agree with your decision.

      This, I will attest to. My 12k HP BM got hit by a R9 BM for about 16k....

      It doesn't help when they seem to think EVERYONE who has the class and is posting for advice, and is 100+ should know their class... like they do.

      I'll be one of the first to admit despite my level, I certainly don't know it all about bms, and I am sure those acting like they do, still have a LOT to learn, about what their character can and can't do, albeit they do indeed know more about the bm class, though this obviously doesn't give them a reason to act like they are, then again no amount of logic is going to prevent them from acting like they are, they sure as hell aren't going to apologize for it, and it would be asinine to expect one out of them, might as well get used to it, no matter what question you ask/how much you feel certain bm skills fail utterly. (if your opinion differs than theirs, then expect some nasty comment from them.)

      Granted that most people who know so little about their own class... asking a question like this... one can't help but question HOW he got to that level in the first place, surely he's played with other bms/seen how much other bms shun just one weapon class.

      In other words, as other have said a pure-anything build for bms, is actually pretty useless for bms, especially with the status quo as it is at the moment. Despite how rude/distasteful they are being about pointing out how 'dumb' of a question it is.... their advice is quite accurate.

      I admit that I've never 1v1'd a +12 rank 9 BM axe but I have 1v1 a few +12 rank 9 barbs and I was still at least a 2 shot with only 8.5k hp even on crit zerks. Think the highest I was hit was 7k most hits being 2-5k. Most would either OI -> arma or stun, spark, OI, claw me to death.

      I wasn't marrowed, just had bell on. But I think it the 3 sparked HF + mire combo helped a good bit....
