Level 80+ Drop Rate

So I am not entirely sure if this is a bug or if the drop rate really is this low but.

I have searched the PWI Database Drop Rate Percentages here and could not figure out why the drop rate was so different from level 70 mobs to level 80 mobs.

So here is my problem:

I have fought lets say 50 level 70+ mobs with my level 82 Barb. I received a number of items including DQ's, HP & MP and Item drops (either being no star to 2 star items).

If I fight the same 50 mobs but at the level 80+ range mobs with the same level 82 Barb. I receive the DQ's, some HP & MP and little to no Item drops.

Now I know that you have to account for the percentages of the drops from each mob and so on but I feel something is amiss here.

The drop rate for items on the level 70+ guys and ranged around .14% lets say

and the drop rate for the level 80+ are .08%

So your saying that .06% between the two level variance is that much that the drops don't happen. I'm not sure but it feels like they are off in some way.

Not sure what to say. :(b:surrender

I've played for well over two years now, and must say, that is a fairly accurate chart. It can be hard to understand though.

Basically it's this, if you are a higher level than the mob, the drop rate decreases exponentially. The greater the level distance, the fewer drops you will get.

So say you're level 80 and fighting level 80 mobs. Your droprate is pretty much 1 to 1, or 100% of what the droprate of items for that particular mob is.

Now say you're level 80 and fighting level 70 mobs. Your droprate is 0.70 to 1, so you will get 30% fewer drops, or 70% of what the droprate is for the items that that particular mob drops.

You also have to take into account the randomizer that the droprate is stacked up against. Sometimes your luck is really sucky, sometimes it's really good. Twice I've gotten molds from regular mobs. That's some serious luck there.

Mobs make a difference too. Some mobs are good for dropping items, some are really bad. There's lots of values that you have to consider. Someday I'll chart them but I've got too many other guides to write before that happens.

    Hope this helps.

oh yeah but that's what I was pointing out too.

I fight mobs in all the ranges and I am getting a much better drop rate with lower level mobs rather than the 80+'s

My point is the drop rate right now with level 80+ mobs is like me fighting level 60 mobs. And even if I did so I think I would get a better drop rate. :X

    ^This^

Especially in the 80's. I've noticed that some mobs were **** about dropping anything, while some mobs dropped so much I thought it was 2X drops. Same with the 90's. I can kill some mobs in hell (can't recall the names) and hardly get any drops at all, but go kill Novastock Braves and I got 200k in 30 minutes from DQ items and gear drops. Both of the mobs are only two levels higher than me even so it's still 1-1 on the drop ratio.

If you're grinding for DQ or coin, and aren't getting anything, try a different mob.

l the mobs all around level 80+ sucks for drops...at least on Dreamweaver. Maybe Sanctuary Server is different. No clue but still very disappointing.
