Rubberbanding

Recently, I realized that I haven't been having many problems with rubberbanding. Every so often, I may teleport back a few steps (usually associated with connection lag), but I almost never get completely stuck in mid-air like I used to.
So I'd like to ask the denizens of the forums if your experiences have been similar. Have you noticed as many problems with rubberbanding? Do you think PWE actually fixed it? (at least mostly/partially).

this game is full of glitches and bugs. and "celestial idiots" doesint bother to fix them.0

You guys have to remember THIS IS A FREE GAME! They can't fix every single bug, especially since the original programming comes from China, so they can only fix bugs if the GMs in China fix it.0

I've noticed a significant decrease in the amount of rubberbanding. I actually can't think of any recent rubberbanding issue. I still rubberband occasionally when hopping on an NPC's head, but I'm able to get out of it within a few seconds without needing to fly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'll admit, the other day i thought 'geeeze, i havn't banded in ages!' and a few second later, BAM banding... kinda ironic, but yes. I have noticed a decrease in the levels of banding; probally a few patches after Genesis was released

And as a FTP MMORPG, PW should have higher levels of customer service to retain their customers and collect more sales of gold from happy customers. But no. And the fact that china fix the bugs is more of a reason why the PWI staff should carry on campaigning for it, but they don't seem to care.Haters gunna love this ^

Rubberbanding isn't a bug. It affects pretty much every game with high traffic.
Your client says you're standing here. The game server says you're standing over there, a couple meters away from your position. Eventually it all settles down.
Can't mention the game, but on another, it usually occurs when you're running past a group of mobs. You're running on your screen, but the server has registered you as being boxed in the mobs. If you attack them or cast a spell, 99.9% of the time, the game client will finally register you as boxed in.
I mostly see it on PWI when I'm climbing a mountain. I've been stuck in loops for minutes DX. Otherwise I haven't seen too much rubberbanding on the ground.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

DX Not looking forward to that.
Now THAT's a bug though. If it forces you to disconnect to resume gameplay, it should be fixed DX.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
The last few posts people made claiming "rubberbanding is so much better!" I replied negatively to. For, at that time, I was having problems as bad as ever, especially running down mountains/hills and once even down the street in Arch. However lately this *has* gotten much better. And I have to say, I have even begun testing it.... in the past it had become automatic to cancel autopath shortly before it finished to avoid landing on the NPC's head; now, I try to land on it lol. And these days, 99% of the time I am able to walk smoothly off. Also, I never seem to have issues anymore jumping off of my flyer into the water (hurray!) which I also have tested a few times lately. The only places I have problems anymore are in instances; various spots in Eden and BH59 for example still rubberband me around like crazy... but that always fixes itself.
I am seeing definite improvement.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

There is that, but what PWI has (or had) was much worse. I remember when every single time I decided to land from any kind of height, I'd get stuck rubberbanding in the air in an eternal loop, only interrupted when I resumed flight. Also, PWI's rubberbanding got noticeably worse with certain updates. It was past the point where it was only the fault of high traffic.
But that is in the past.
These days, I can accept your "high traffic" excuse for the little bit of rubberbanding that I experience sometimes.0 -

i have very little to not at all . i vote no. if i am on my computer there is no rubberbanding . i have i good video card in it. if i am on my sister computer i have very little it has a inti. video card.b:shutup0

Is that "running in place" glitch specific to Assassins? If so, then it may be a slightly different problem from the general rubberbanding which affected everyone regardless of class or race. If you usually only experience rubberbanding in instances, then that sounds like an improvement to me.0

That is true, but the point of this thread is: "Is it getting better?"
A noticeably large drop in the frequency of rubberbanding problems would mean that someone, either PWE or the devs in China, is actually working on fixing it.
Working on problems with the game instead of new sales and fashion. That in itself is nice to hear considering that a few months ago we had no real hope that anything would ever be done about rubberbanding, or any other bugs (or should I say "features"). Also, the fact that it may be getting better means that maybe one day we will see a time where rubberbanding goes extinct completely.0 -
There's a huge difference between 'can't fix every bug' and 'won't fix a single bug'. PWI, until Rubberbanding was fixed, fit into the latter.
There are bugs and glitches that have existed since closed beta that have not yet been fixed. Playability issues that have a major impact on the game, like rubberbanding, should not take 6 months to 2 years to fix.
But, for the poll of this thread, no, no rubberbanding in a long time for me. Just connection glitches, which have been getting worse and worse lately. I'll be resetting my network gear to see if it fixes it.101 Sage Sin*/Archer

Yes, rubberbanding has become better for me too. I am not sure that this has been fixed by the devs though, it might as well be traffic dependant. And it is not a good sign if the traffic gets lower. Not at all.0

Lemme tell you how I believe Perfect World became to exist.
Some time ago, somewhere in China, some random IT student failed to graduate from college due to poor programing he had shown on his finals. Pi55ed off, he throws the disk containing his work in first garbage can he stumbled upon. The disk was later found by some hungry hobo who obviously had his lucky day.
Now, this is where I lost tracks. That guy either traded the disk for some food or booze, or actually came up with name Perfect Word himself, and started a company, made a trademark, and sold what was now called a Free to Play MMO.
If you'll insist, I can present some evidence I came up with to back up my thesis. Otherwise you can simply thrust me and stop flaming our GMs and Devs. Those poor guys have no idea how to fix stuff. They don't have knowledge, nor appropriate tools. And you all should really start to appretiate the effort they have shown by just putting up with all your accusations.0 -
Game's much better as there is less rubberbanding happening to me, even if I can still feel some lag at times.Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
- When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
- Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
- New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
- When will we get new content? QQ
- Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
- I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.
- *Incessant poking on Sweetiebot* Fun~0 -
still get it all the time0

Rubber-banding is pretty well non-existant for me now. One notable spot it does still happen is occasionally in the rings of death generated by the first FC boss, and very rarely out in the world will it happen.0
