Wizzies are awesome in Pvp. They especially shine in mass PvP situations (like TW).

If, however, you really want to do PvP pre-100 (because wizzies are late bloomers in that regard), and don't mind that you're kinda useless in TW situations, then roll a sin.

I have no opinion on archer PvP, tbh, because I couldn't bear to play one past level 21.

    hmm

you are on a PVE server, so there wont be much of PVP anyways
as from what i experienced its 1vs1 or if you choose to do so, you vs XY
PVP on PVE servers is ****, full of people with ego issues who are way to sissy to roll on a PVP server and compete with many

    PVP logic is

    Gear > Skill
    Assasins > All classes
Psy with the most recent best gear available > Others with the most recent best gear available

= doesnt matter if wizard or archer in pvp...

    both are awesome in TW
    wizard has higher defenses
    archer higher hp
    wizard hits harder per hit
archer hits more times (with overall more damage)
    i like potato

based on time consumption of building another character I say stick with the one you made and enjoy... in other words wizard.

Wizards are very good in PvP at endgame, BUT they do tend to require nice gear to live up to that standard, as they are pretty squishy.

Being realistic, I'd say make an archer

Because unless you are willing to continuously open your wallet, you're going to want to have some kind of farming char to fund your wizard.
And a demon archer is the cheapest class & path to make 5 aps.
Then, use the archer to fund whatever you want to play or....fall in love with the archer and play that instead b:cute

Leveling a char not an issue these days with pleveling once you have a rich main lol

But if you are a really good merchant, or you are willing to spend a lot of cash, then by all means I'd say just play what you enjoy more.

But no our classes are not the same in pvp as far as strengths and weaknesses go. For example, Wizards have far less problems with those heavies that archers can take a while to kill sometimes :(

Give archer r9 bow, Nothing becomes an issue anymore.

Give wizzy r9 wand, well i'm sorry but you are officially dead upon sight.
Nothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

Both classes become despised at higher levels in PvE. 9 out of 10 or more players will actually slow down progress of a squad by causing the target to move, or continuously AoE; simply to show that they can do it.

Look over Mystic, Pscyhic, Veno, and Cleric skills and tell us; do you really want to be a **'n wiz? Wiz is one of my 2, 100+ toons and I wish I'd never created it.

I'd liek to think that my advice was realistic, atm r9 is not, therefore I didn't account for that.

Go ahead and roll archer... but keep your wizzy around for a rainy day. My Wiz is currently around your level (61...ish? I think?), and I play her because her skills are fun, and I like seeing those big damage numbers... even if her slow casting means she's just doing about average damage. Wizards are what they are. If you're thinking of TWing, yeah, a wizard can wreak havoc on a cata puller and his guards because of their aoes... but wizards nevertheless aren't necessary to taking out enemy squads.

Then again, archers aren't necessary either. They're definitely good, but so are wizards. Both classes are good in TW, so there's no shame in trying both.

My advice would be to just do the one you enjoy more. Roll that archer, and get him/her up to even levels with your wiz. Then, play whichever you're having more fun with. As far as I'm concerned, PvP is just icing on the rest of the PW experience... don't try to play a class you don't like purely for PvP.

    Pffft.....

Our learning how to keep a monster positioned and avoiding AI triggers from ranged attack can be difficult and something of an art form, with a lot of secrets for us to discover.

It us does not help that aggro mechanics in this game are something of a secret, one which no one has reverse engineered in any depth. But that's a failure on the part of the tanks, not just the people with ranged attacks.

And, if you know that the monster's AI will do bad things with ranged attacks, you can explain that issue to people in your squad. Some of us have some capacity for learning!

Firstly, keep in mind you are on a PvE server. This means the majority of PK is going to be done by the end-game CSers decked out with R9 of a variety of classes, and in particular Sins. Whether you play a wizard or an archer, you're about to get rolled repeatedly until you can get good enough gear to even half-heartedly compete with these people.

5aps demon archer is cheap to get to 5aps, although by "cheap" I actually mean "cheaper than getting a BM or Sin to 5aps" and not actually cheap. Similarly, as 5aps is not possible before 99, you're going to be levelling that archer a lot before it gets anywhere near a farming standard. The good news? Once you have a 5aps farmer, you can start to farm money for your wizard and any other classes you might play. It will take a while, but it will still be money you can get to fund other characters, and then you can have both a wizard and an archer.

But if you aren't looking to farm or start paying unreasonable amounts of cash and coin out the *** just to keep up with your server's PK, stick with the wizard and enjoy what little PK you can. Keep in mind you will die. A lot.

PVE is irrelevant to the fact that PVP is the end game... if just playing for PVE you're going to run out of game fast after 100 anyway,

If the person enjoys playing that class don't knock it just because some people suck at it.
