where does cotton thread drop for earthguards?

I only recently returned to PW after a long break, and decided to start a new character, my old character is on a different server.
I was hoping to get my crafting started since gear costs a lot, but I havent found any cotton thread so far. Which mob drops that in my area?

Also, is it a good idea to level up my crafting skills, or should I just sell my mats and buy my gear instead? Is it doable to level crafting while questing, or will my crafts lag far behind if I don't spend a lot of time farming mats?

I'd say you should level your skills up, unless you have some very close friends that can craft for you, which you don't now that you are on a new server?
