keeping aggro on pets

hey all, I've just returned to the game after about a year/year and a half haitus, and some things have changed. In my absence we've gained two races. Cool. However one thing I'm not sure if it is related to all the updates I missed, or if it is just something I have to get back in the hang of is that my pets are losing aggro a lot quicker/more often. I'm a little squishy cause of how much I have let them tank for me to get this far, so it becomes a bit of a problem when they start losing the aggro and I don't expect it.

The pets I use are nothing special, a wolf, a turtle, a snow hare and a foxwing, but it's happened with all of them, regardless of skills. Is this a new thing? Or are they just not dealing enough damage and I need to get myself some new ones? I don't really know. Thanks for any info.

I haven't noticed anything different in the aggro mechanics of pets vs. myself since I started. (Might have been there, but I haven't seen anything.)

If you've levelled, it may just be the normal progression of you getting stronger at a faster rate than your pet. You may just have to adjust what skills you use, how you open, when you spark, when and how you debuff, etc.

There are two things you can do to boost the aggro your pet generates:
    - get a pet with a high attack power (be careful with this though; most DD/attack pets are more fragile)
    - use aggro skills (bash, the elemental bashes, and flesh ream are the best at keeping aggro. try alternating between a couple of them if you have them. Don't spam roar- that skill resets aggro and gives a little to the pet. Spamming it just makes it harder for the pet to build and maintain aggro. Instead, use Roar when your pet has lost aggro to get the aggro back on to your pet.)

One final thought- don't be afraid to tank a little yourself (within reason). There may be times when your pet needs to have aggro, but there are also times when you can live through the couple of hits that you'd end up taking.

hm, maybe this was happening just before I stopped playing last time then. I figured it might have to do with me just being stronger than my pets. (and I've been on the look out for new ones, though tbh I'm a little disappointed that it seems most of the new mobs around my level aren't tamable? I've been checking out EG and TB territory/quests, and haven't come across a new pet. Shame. Some of the mobs are interesting.)

And I usually use flesh ream, on my main pet. And I don't recall that one losing aggro so quickly in the past. But oh well. As long as the mechanics haven't changed then I don't need to learn any new rules, I just need to find stronger pets. Thank you!

    Glad to help!

About the new pets- there aren't any from the Earthguard lands, but there are a few good ones from the Tideborn lands. Most noticeably (tamed names):

    - Cloud Skatefish
    - Dark Wanderer
    - Seamonster Guardian

2 things , first both the wolf and the hare are not exceptional DDs , so either get a proper DD Scorpion , Dark wanderer (recommend it for instances where u want to increase ur DD potential), If u want to keep ur wolf and spent money on him , get him bash , roar and tough (only if u want him for endgame pet and u play veno for fun or alt , cause squads will moan if they see u with a weak and not good skilled wolf). on the other hand Scorpion the lvl 2 one , and Dark wanderer are pets worth lvling for the purpose of DD ( Wanderer is a choice of mine , can tank quite a lot of things a walker or golem could do and does exceptional damage per second when not using skills , for grinding just teach him bash)

2nd , ur getting stronger its sth that happens to all venos , especially if u are pure build. Learn ur skills , dont go and open with lucky scarab or ironwood , instead try venomous or blazing to draw the mobs attention let pet hit it 2-3 times then throw ur big dmg spell , then alternate them . i do this combo = 1 weak then 1 strong , 2 weak , 1 strong 2 weak and so on (though most of that time mob is already dead , just in case of increased life or mag.)

When u get better gear , most of the time ull tank the mobs by urself and kill them in 3-4 spells.
