It was here very good comparison between AA and LA with survivability math, etc. But I cannot find the link. It was very detailed topic and very interesting. :-(

Short reply: AA, LA sucks endgame.

    Longer reply:

An endgame mage can get a lot of pdef from ornaments and other gear pieces, so it's not worth it to sacrifice a lot of your damage for the additional pdef. And no the additional crit rate does not make up for the lost damage. Also LA gives really bad mdef and with all the R8 casters out there, mdef is just as important as pdef. Finally the rank 9 for wizards is AA, and if you are really really serious about pvp that's a good long time goal... If they ever bring back medals, that is. Ya I know what you wanna say "dude, there is other stuff than R9, stupid cs ho". But PvPing as a wizard needs good gear. Period. If you want to roll a cheap PvP class roll a sin. Then you can also switch off your brain, convenient.

At the current time I'd truly advise going AA now. Ask us 2 years back, and the decision would unanimously be LA. Until Endgame.

LA is still amazingly effective for Wizards in PvP pre-90, it's just the time it takes to 90 is now about 20x shorter, therefore, generally encountering less overall PvP by time your 90 (and Need robes).

LA is worse for a few reasons.

    1) you deal less damage. Sure you have a higher crit rate, but not enough to justify LA. Getting a crit with AA is almost always a KO if the move was sandstorm, glacial shards, maybe even stone rain. Getting a crit with one of those moves with an LA wiz would be like getting a crit with gush on an AA wiz- sure it'll hurt, but it's probably not going to KO anyone.

    2) The extra p def is a joke. On paper, looking at the amount of p def you'd have, it might seem like LA gives a big bonus, but it doesn't. Ultimately it's all about the % of p attack reduction, and the difference between LA vs AA + well refined ornaments is laughable.

    3) Your armor doesn't have all those caster friendly adds. Going AA, an endgame wiz could have -25% chan with the average gear, not even a -chan build. An LA wiz might have -7% chan between their wep and rings.

    4) Your m def is an absolute joke. Have you ever hit an archer or sin with a gush? Takes out a good chunk of their hp huh? Well that's what you'll be like. You might have slightly higher m def because of all those points in magic, but yo also have lower hp than archers and sins, so it comes out to about the same amount of damage, percent health wise.

If you need any more convincing that LA sucks, simply go check out the Archer and Assassin forums. Both classes have multiple threads discussing the possibilities of going HA, simply because LA sucks that bad.
If two other classes that were designed for LA are desperately trying to find a way to switch armor types, then why would we ever want to switch into it?

In all honesty, LA isn't decent against magic and physical attacks, it's horrible against both. It's slightly better than AA in p def, and slightly better than HA in m def, but by such a small amount endgame that it's laughable.

Short version of why AA is better.

12k pdef full buffed (diminishing returns hits)
    11kmdef unbuffed
    6.3khp with +5-6 gears

LA you can get liek 15-16k pdef with the same orns AA has possbly, but the % difference is neglible. you will ahve like 6k mdef. and you will have like 6.7khp with +5-6 gears.

take your pick. and also as an AA wiz i have 19% crit

Yeah...I wouldn't try out LA now, stick with AA. Yes, there was a time where even on my Wizard I loved the build, but now that Psychics, Seekers, and Mystics are here; it's a bad idea. b:shutup
