I am building an archer Alt (sin dies to easy) and I was wondering should i use fists are claws until I get knock-back arrow and should i always have a pair with me just encase I have no mana left and the mob is in very close range as bow is to slow to be effective in close range and I have no pots or charms?

i find running for a bit turning around and hitting to be kinda useful in situations like that

they die faster because even though u spend time running its not as slow as dealing 1/2 damage or as fists

its cheap because at best the mob would get 1 hit on you if you run and attack again

and you probably won't need to do it for long because if they have reached you they are going to need hit them 2-3 times more for them to die

I carried a sword at lower levels for stupid monsters that got upclose. If they had more than what the sword would dishout, I would do the above posters tactic.

My archer's 78th level now and I've never had a problem with mobs getting very close on a regular basis. One tactic you might want to try is MP preservation using Wing Shell. When your MP starts running low, throw up a Wing Shell to regenerate it. This also protects you from those up close and personal mob types. For a lot of archers MP control isn't very high in the priority list so try to use your lower cost skills, like Frost Arrow and a level 1 Knockback only. Once you get Lightning Strike the close up stuff becomes eaiser to handle as it isn't attenuated by the close range but until then, use the Wing Shell.
