Mystics in Gamma

Are so fun! There is so many versatile things to do during pulls!

Why did I write out such a long description about it? Because I've tried joining several gamma squads as a mystic, but few have been willing to accept me since they don't know what a mystic is like in there. So maybe this will enlighten some folks b:pleased

I just did gamma on my mystic about 3x now, the final run was successful once I got the hang of it. Of course at first, we do the 'veno job' of killing mobs and digging chests until the second boss is dead. Pretty boring, but then it gets interesting.

Here's what I did, you can choose to try it out if you wish:

Max your summon Salvation to cast her skills on the barb during pulls, they will LOVE you for saving their hp and charm. But, salvation takes a while to cast her skills (and hard to manage I found), so make sure to cast it right when you see the group of mobs running your way on the mini map (they're little white dots) which is just before the barb goes and pulls. First use Martyrdom that absorbs % damage and lasts 50 seconds (this is a more essential buff I find, so it's important to have the chance of casting it first), then cast Aegis Sphere on the barb which absorbs 3k dmg. You can cast Aegis Sphere again when the barb is running back after aggroing all the mobs (it's only a 15 second cool down anyway).
Note Don't cast the Salvation skills WHILE the barb is running into the mobs. Your summon will run after him and pull aggro (and die) then the mobs end up running at your direction before the barb has a chance to keep aggro.

When I cast these two skills on the barb, his hp hardly moved while he was pulling the mobs, whereas it did quite a bit when I didn't have the chance to cast them. And, a barb I know ended up using only 150k out of his charm on a full run whereas without salvation he used up 450k of his charm only up till DW. Now, this does depend on the barbs gears, but either way Salvation saves any barbs hp and charm.

For DDing, there's two things you can do, either summon Cragglord for his aoe or summon Punishing Sting and use lysing for it to explode and do dmg aoe. I did about 8-10k aoe dmg with Punishing Sting (lvl 10). And you can always resummon/explode it for more aoe dmg. I ended up using Punishing String far more often for aoe dmg and using Cragglord for bosses.
-edit- There's three things you can do, and the third is summoning Storm Mistress for her aoe. So there's quite a bit of choices here. Make sure to whip out Salvation once the mobs are all dead to recast her skills though. But always having Salvation ready at your side is not a bad idea so then you can just keep on using Punishing Sting without losing her.

Also, thicket is an aoe, but it seals the target, which makes the mobs run away sometimes. So when there's leftover mobs around, I just cast it and it does an immense amount of damage. You don't want to cast thicket on a fresh pull and see all the mobs run in different directions. This is also why I didn't use Cragglord as often because I like using my two sparks for thicket on pulls.

I never used Gale Force, because it also has a chance at sealing targets. You could use it for leftover mobs, but I rather use thicket since it does far better damage.

You can summon other plants as well to explode and cause some aoe debuff effects, but the basic aoe damage I kept on using was punishing sting since it did the most damage.

Oh, and try to be considerate about others hp as well. If you see someone taking enormous amounts of damage and the auras/bb isn't helping much, take time away from dding and heal them. It takes some stress off the healer lol Don't forget to cast Healing Herb during pulls when you get the chance as well. And there's no point in res buff in Gamma, you automatically get ressed at the pillars.

So basically, mystics are great for saving barbs, there's several choices on aoe usage, and can be an emergency back up healer. You are a DD + support in gamma, which I found fun!

If any other mystics have tried something else, feel free to share. But this is my own personal experience on a successful gamma run.

Wow thanks for this! I am a total noob at playing mystic - I really didn't know what to do with salvation. I somehow assumed she would help just by being around. Now it makes more sense.

I imagine that chi won't be a problem though on the higher waves, with chi aura and stuf.

I'd summon craglord at the start, that start lysing plants (sumon, lyse, sumon, lyse, ectect), and when craglord come whip out storm for some extra aoe.
By the time craglord is gone you usually are back up to 2 sparks.

I gues you can also use Salvation to save the wizzy if he's really squishy/get's alot of aggro
9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris

You can summon Mistress for her aoe right when you're done using Salvation, but I personally got lazy and stuck around with one summon most of the time. And like I said, I used thicket when there's leftover mobs whose hp is pretty much on the halfway mark, and the thicket usually wipes them out before they even have a chance to run at that point. So, thicket wasn't my main aoe, it was Punishing Sting.

You can always try out Mistress though, but don't forget about Salvation!

Chi wasn't a problem at all, and you can use Cragglord if you wish for aoe, even mistress, but I personally did just fine using only plants and thicket. And besides, I liked to have my Salvation always ready just in case someone else was taking loads of damage.

And there was no wizard in my party, it was a seeker instead and he wasn't squishy at all. Salvation is great for barbs because sometimes they end up dieing/using up lots of hp/charm while pulling, especially during DW. The barb I was with always asked for Salvation during pulls and I'm sure others will be just as happy.
