37. Cleric Etiquette

More Cleric stuff but this time, how Clerics should treat others. So you've got all these cool buffs, particularly Celestial Guardian's Seal. This is the one that increases the targets HP/MP recovery by up to 10 points per second. I know we're giving, caring little elves but you know, sometimes, we **** up just like all the other classes. For example, here I go, south of Archosaur, across the river to that spot EVERYONE kills Densgoth Tuskmore and stuff, the spot with no agro . . . I see a toon, doesn't matter what the class was, killing things so, like always, I drop my buff macro on him . . . and get chewed out for it. Why? 'Cuz I over-wrote his Life Powder. I can see his point, I mean, a lousy 10 points per second killing off a 50 point per second Life Powder. So, I apologize and offer him some Life Powders, I ALWAYS carry a bunch, but he turned me down, politely. From that point on I began to look at my target first before using that macro. If I see the little red and/or little blue buff marker, I always ASK first if they are using a powder before I Buff.
Thistle Thoughts: This goes for any Buffs I might see on a potential target . . . though not so much at my Level. Those of you that are still in your 20s to somewhere in your 60s, might want to check on people that are already buffed to make sure you don't over-write some Demon/Sage Buffs. That could get really annoying for the one you are trying to help. Just 'cuz a toon down at Broken Bow has Buffs, it doesn't mean they got them from a Level 24 Cleric, some of us like to wander out that way and give away free Cleric lovin'.

I think most clerics open to learning learnt that the hard way... after someone tells/yells at them about an over-write...

Life Powder? Yeah folks must still use 'em 'cos they sell.

I use life powders all the time, save a lot on potions.

    lol people still use those?

    I use +100 regen ones when I grind b:pleased

And btw, nice little advice out there ^^ I personally only buff when I'm asked nicely tho, when I'm on the world map, so I never had problems with overwriting powders and getting yelled at for it. In instances I just throw in my squad buff macro before we begin so, if someone used a regen pot right before I buffed and didn't tell me/ get outta buff range, then it's pretty much their bad there.

Luckily, I've never had this kind of experience because I've had factionmates kindly inform me about it. Though once I got chewed out when I buffed this one guy who didn't have all the Cleric buffs. Instead of buffing him with that one buff, I used my 4 buff macro on him and he got mad. b:shocked

I often buff people around Archo but if I see HP regen buff icon, I never overwrite their life powder. Yesterday I saw a buffed BM questing outside of Archo but he was missing the mag. res buff so I buffed him.
He PMed me: Don't buff me please I have one hour buffs.
Me: Well, you were missing the mag. res buff, I only gave you that one, lol.
Him: Oh that's fine, thanks. Finally, not a stupid Cleric! :P
I'm a buff freak, if I see missing buffs, I go crazy! XD

Beinga cleric has sort of made me bitter about life in general online lol , if they arent in my party or i don't know then i dont buff or heal. I've had people yell at me for not healing them when they died to mobs, while i had my own mob on me(when not in party). So now i just sit back and let them die, if they demand rez they wont be getting it either.
Yeah my sig doesn't match my name...i would say im being all clever and trying to confuse people...but im really just too lazy to make a new one

Lol yea, all the same here :D I`m even chasing people around just to buff them b:chuckle
Today while I was at Silver Pool, I buffed everyone when I saw a BM passing by. I tried to buff her, but she was already out of range, so I started chasing her down. After I saw that she wont stop I started shouting "Stop, you silly BM!" in normal chat b:chuckle
Finally she stopped and I buffed her xD

I've never had someone get snippy with me for not healing them if I am not in their squad. If I fly by and notice someone is having a problem with a mob, I'll usually watch for a second to assess their chances of survival. If it looks hopeless, I'll heal them. If it looks like they are in control, unless they ask, I won't heal them since I believe in letting people do it themselves. If they are totally outclassed, say a poor lvl 32 Mystic that thinks they can tank Krixxix with their 'pet' I will probably hit them with a couple Ironhearts to keep them alive long enough for them to ask for my help or, if they have any sense, get out of Krixxix's range. When it comes to 'demands', however . . . I don't suffer fools lightly. You want me help, be polite of 'Release Corpse' and suck up the XP loss.
