purifying equipment

just one quick question, and even though it might sound noobish, i dont purify my equipment that often in fact ive done it once. so i was wondering if i purify my sins daggers to put in 2 better shards will that get rid of the refine as well or just the gems already in?

    Just the shards. Only way to lose refines is to try to add more w/o a refining aid.

    okay ty for the respond, ive purified my equpiment like once and that wasnt refined, so i wouldnt know xD
