Cleric lvl 100 Weap - Rank vs Nirvana

Because I was bored out of my mind, I decided to fly down to Nirvana to camp my future gear. The question of going rank or Nirvana has been bothering me for a while, too. Here are the stats of the LG-Nirvana and TT-Nirvana weapons, as well as the R8 Weapon (I don't plan on getting R9).

Nirvana - Buddha's Leaf (Lunar Glade based)
P.Atk: 529 - 716
M.Atk: 855 - 1282
Others: -6% Channeling, Mag +16-17, Vit +16-17
Req. Lvl: 100

Counter Destiny - Nirvana (TT Based)
P.Atk: 529 - 716
M.Atk: 855 - 1282
Others: -6% Channeling, Mag +16-17, Vit +16-17
Req. Lvl: 100

Wheel of Light (Rank8)
P.Atk: 666 - 900
M.Atk: 1077 - 1616
Others: -6% Channeling,Crit Hit Rate +4%, MP +310
Req. Lvl: 100

Comparing those, it seems obvious that R8 is obvious to get. However, I'm (obviously) not at the level to be a good judge. Can someone else comment with their opinion? It's most appreciated, and thank you.

Evict - Heavens Tear

You should note the grade of weapons too. The higher the grade, the more attack they'll gain per refine. IIRC, Lunar weapons remain g13 until you recast them to make the g15 weapon, while Rank 8 is g14. Unless you plan on spending money, Rank 8 is better and cheaper.

Im a fan of nirvana over r8 for a number of reasons. 1.) R8 physically looks like a dead glowing crab 2.) im not a huge fan of the added stats on r8 at all 3.) having the same looking weapon with the same stats is just boring lol.

Nirvana runs are also just something fun to do with guildies or friends from the server and i find the harder you have to work for a piece of gear the more it means to you lame as that sounds. So the reward for having farmed nirvana all the way from tt60 would just be great imo hehe


Nirvana also refines to be pretty much the same attack as r8 with stats that i like more , so its an obvious choice for me, but some people like r8 and thats fine too.

well just with that comparison, its really not fair. There are more things that need to be considered. The biggest thing is you're comparing 1st cast nirvana to r8. If you're only going 1st cast its really not worth it, unless you're getting 1st cast daggers on a sin.

Now as others have said you need to take into consideration how they refine, which g15 nirv. will refine slightly better then r8 (I changed the nirvana comparison to glaive for better comparison of attack range). Then also was pointed out the adds on nirvana weapons. with second cast you get random adds and can re-roll the adds you get. So you should look up the possibility of the adds, but on glaive 1 add will be guaranteed of these 3 options: -6chan, -10chan, +20atk.lvl.

Another thing to take into consideration is r8 is much better bang for your buck. For about 80m you can get the weapon, chest, and ring. While 2nd cast nirvana is 500m'ish for just the weapon. Cost wise r8 wins until you consider alts, and upgrades. With Lunar Nirvana the weapon is not bound so if you want to get a better weapon, say r9 or a newly released weapon you can sell it. But r8 is not only bound but unable to be account stashed. Meaning that if you have a wizard, veno, or mystic. you'd need to get a new weapon for each of them. And then when considering that, there is also alot of coin that would go into refining and sharding multiple weapons for your different characters.

Personally the reasons above are why I'm not a fan of r8, it really locks you in. If you want improve your weapon with r8 there is not really replacing it, but refining it more. And if you ever do replace it, it'll then sit in your bank collecting dust.

People seem to over look the 2nd cast options of nirvana when they comparer to r8 and the only class that can use a first cast and be happy with it are sins for the int lol...although god of frenzy makes me tingle in naughty places

So before I slap myself upside the head for being a sheep, is this to say that R8 is alright, but that there are better options? Hnn...Given that I don't level as fast as I'd like (there's only so many quests x.x), I'm also taking into account the cost of the crystals. Why do people charge so much for Raptures? Does it have horrid drop rates? b:shocked

Also, how many Nirvana runs would it take to:
1. Create that first cast Nirvana gear AND
2. Recast it for better stats?

On top of that, there's the armor rush and the ring rush...I think I should stop there before I run off topic. Haha

Raptures take a fair amount of time and effort to farm in a really high level dungeon, and unless you have an active faction, parties for nirvana can be hard to find which attributes to their high cost.

As far as r8, it is far from a terrible weapon, in fact it is a good choice, its just not for me . I set my sights on ---> god speed----> nirvana when i was just lvl 50 so thats part of the reason why i reject r8. I would be more into r8 if it had stats i liked more rather than some crit and mp but it all depends on your play style.

By the time you get +20 attack lvl (average of 45 reforges aka 315 Raptures + 250 for weapon) you can get Rank 9 weapon and have it +12ed.

As much fun as that sounds I'm not sure if I would have time to farm all the crystals on runs myself.

Since everyone is nice enough to help me compare the second forging, I think I can go on this path:

TT until lvl 90 (when I can actually wear rank5+ stuff), but keep those gear evolving.
Wheel of Denied Fate --> Fates Denial: God Speed --> [R8 Weapon] --> Nirvana --> 2nd casting, with decent stats

With this line of reasoning I can be using a decent weapon by lvl 100, and still be working on getting a better weapon. Although it would be a shame that after getting Nirvana gear my Rank would be useless...b:thanks At least I get to keep the General's ring for the stats?

It all depends on the time/money/etc you're willing to invest really. I got the rank 8 weapon as a "filler" while I'm collecting raptures for my nirvana weapon. I'm turning my neon purg into petals of destruction, then to glaive of nirvana. Just now with the rank weapons and all, the neon purg isn't as high up there on the best weapons scale.

Plus, I'm raising my wizard right now, and I'm planning on stashing over all my current nirvana gears as well when it hits 100.

before picking a gear/weapon thats the first thing you need to look at.

same as picking out a present in real life. You choose to shop in the store which suits your budget and time.

if your aiming for a decent weapon but dont want to sell your house or dont have time to play that much to farm then R8 seems the better choice.... personally

+1 on this. r8 is by far the cheaper option + you get a nice ring, chest and not so nice pants (that are still comparable to tt99 pants). If you got that far, farming r9 isnt that hard anymore either (maybe getting the medals will b:cry). Nirvana 2nd cast does have some nice stats, just IMO you can get better equip cheaper if you go the rank way. If you really chose to go the Nirvana way after all, dont only look at the glavies, but swords/wands too, and pick the stats that fit your playstyle the most (prolly the biggest advantage of nirvana).

Funny thing about statistics, you can get +20 attack lvl your first try or your 100 000th try, its all up to luck and random number generators :P As ive said before r8 and r9 are fine they just aren't for me.
