BBcode in signatures

I'd really like to add a link or two in my sig. For instance, one to a full breakdown of my alts (because writing them all in the sig was making it cluttered). I cannot do this because BBcode is apparently prohibited in signatures (except for the SIGPIC code). Just wondering, who decided we couldn't use BBcode in signatures and why?

I just don't see the harm in it. Would it not be subject to the same rules as regular posts would (e.g. no mention of competing MMOs, etc.)? Most forum systems allow editing of inappropriate sigs, so I'm just not seeing any reason for this. :P

    For heaven's sake, I can't even color (OR EVEN CENTER) my sig. Seriously, what's the harm in colored or centered signatures? This restriction is ridiculous.
