speed question

Im a BM, how come my speed (flying) is 5.0 m/s and a Wizard speed is 4.8, and I can't keep up with him?

    depends on the mount. flying mount goes by ur base movement speed plus an added bonus. normally most ppl get the 3.00 to 3.30 mounts so odds are they have a faster air mount then u

    could be that he is using the accelerate function on his wings to give himself an extra speed boost. it burns chi stones pretty fast though.

    you're looking at the speed listed in the character sheet, aren't you? that one's only for running on foot, it's got nothing to do with flying.

    flying mounts have a speed listed on the mount, but there it's expressed as "+X.Y m/s". this is confusing, because it assumes you know that the "base speed" for any flying mount is 5.0 m/s. so, my waning cloud (+3.0/+6.0) actually moves at 8 m/s unaccelerated, 11 m/s accelerated. meanwhile, my character stat sheet lists my speed as 5.2 m/s --- 6.5 after i turn on summer sprint. that's my speed when i'm running on the ground and not riding my mount.

    At 90+, doing an OHT daily can net you 70 Perfect Stones per day (if you create an OHT arm-piece and decompose it, which only requires lv1 tailoring). This makes it a lot easier to supply your wings with fuel and your genie(s) with stamina. And if you make one with -chan, you can sell it instead. ;]

    Good way to make money too b:victory

    I look around till I find tears for sale 15-20k each. Takes 3 make a piece.. Decompose into 70 p stones that sell 1k each. Even then, if you in fact do your daily, you get tears free (other mats too if u are a tad lucky on drops for the one you just can't dig) 7 days of dailies : 28 tears.. 560 possible p stones if all u make is not good.

    The movement speed listed in your stats window is ground running speed, even if you are flying when you look at it.

    All classes have a "base" flight speed of 5.0m/s.
    Aerogear bonuses add to that number, +3 aerogear moves at a real speed of 8.0m/s.

    Ping can also be a factor, as well as graphical lag from your computer itself. The server compensates somewhat for your position based on where your computer thinks you are. Someone on a fast computer with low lag will slowly pass someone on a laggy computer/connection.

    There are barbs in TF that have a move speed of 15 m/s. If the movement speed was applied to flying mounts, then they would fly at 15 m/s at all times... Since that isn't the case, it's pretty much proof that the 5.0 m/s base speed for fliers is true.
