alright, so i'm hoping to draw a few archers onto this topic since everyone knows that archers are amazing at math.

if you take a pure dex build archer with up to date gear for his level, and a pure mag build wizard with up to date gear for his level, which one would deal more damage over time with their AOE's?

for the sake of completeness say a lv70 archer using unicorn (the TT70 bow), (full tt70 armor),(rank ring and attendence ring)

and a lv70 wizard using Ashura's sign (the tt70 magic sword), (ful tt70 armor), (rank ring and attendence ring)

(i'm almost positive the archer deals more because of crit rate)

A rank 9 bow+10 Archer tell me in delta he has problem holding a wizard's DB aggro.

simply because of the mob in delta has more physical defence then magic defence.

If you would read the skill descriptions on ecatomb the answer is obvious.

wizard only has 1 continuous aoe, archers only have 1 continuous aoe.

Compare Barrage of Arrows to Dragon's Breath, read the Weapon % modifiers and damage.

Mage: 4450 plus base magic damage at lvl 10

Archer: 4585 plus base physical damage plus 200% weapon damage. ('hints at the weapon %')

maybe because the wizard has Sage DB, has a chance to stun therefore the wizard tanks GV since stuns reset agro.

A LOT more phys defence than mag defence actually XD
My +4 rank8 lvl 10 DB holds aggro over most high refined rank8 archers

And stun doesn't RESET aggro, it simply DRAWS aggro. If it were simply reset, than the DD doing MORE dmg than you would get the aggro, while as with drawing aggro like a barb's flesh ream, it actually makes sense that a sage DB wizzy holds aggro on the fire IMMUNE wave in delta

hmm, so mobs have a lot less magic defense then physical defense. that would mean that wizards remain the superior choice when finding a dd for a zhen squad, even with archers consistent crit rate, thats good to know.

The answer is a little twisty. Wizards are build to do insane dmg but "only" in the later and final lvls. Some of my wizi friends might agree, lvling a wizi from the start might be fun but it is tough.

But yes in the final lvls wizards start to fabricate insane amount of dmg.

Also and foremost important in pvp a lot of players mainly focus to increase their pdef which leaves them very vulnerable to wizis magic attack. That is also the main reason why you hear from many wizards one shotting people because these people might have a great amount of pdef but their mag def is too weak.

Wizards also use undine strike which lowers their opponent mag def by 60%. So if you already face another player with low mag def, with undine strike they become super weak. b:shocked

So as stated above by a fellow wizard, it always depends on your opponent or in pve case on the mobs you are hitting.
