In Need of Some Advice :)

After playing again for a few days after a 3 or 4 month hiatus, I made the mistake of reading the forums. Seriously, for any person already doubting the strength of their class, reading the forums (ESPECIALLY pwi forums) makes you want to take a few pills before throwing yourself into a vat full of flesh eating walruses. no joke.
anyway!
I was thinking of rerolling with a seeker (even though i've never really liked melee classes, and have always preferred range) or a sin (even though there are way too many running around), but it kind of depresses me to basically stop playing my archer. My archer is only at level 71, but I love it to death. I've had a lot of fun with it, and its been awesome getting this far.
sooo. I definitely need your advice.
I wanted to get to a high level partly because I wanted to have awesome gear and pretty crazed attack, and I know archer's physical damage is relatively great. but mostly, I want to get to a high level just because I want to be one of those people that help other people out. I know I basically worshipped those high leveled people who helped me out with qinzi and all my other BH's when I couldn't find a squad, and I definitely want to be one of them.
I've never been much for PVP either, but mostly cuz I've never really played a character that was really good at it, and I didn't feel like getting my butt kicked every time I tried. I'd love to try it out though :P
which leads to my question:
would you recommend sticking to this archer, and levelling it all the way up, or re-rolling with another character? the classes I know I'll never choose are any of the untamed. I'm leaning towards seeker or sin, but can't decide.
sorry for the wall of text. and thank you if you read to this point. you're awesome
any and all input welcome

The class which can be the most helpful to lower levels is probably cleric.
Archers can be helpful as well if you are willing to break traditional mindsets.0 -

Archers is all about your gears. If you can not maintain your gear at least in the top 5-10 percentile... then you are not going to realize the true potential of archers.1. If I kill you; do something about it yourself, don't go complaining to my wife.
2. If you have less kill counts then me, don't expect me to take pk advice from you.
3. If you are hiding behind an alt, don't expect me to acknowledge your existence.

Elenacostel speaks truth.
Some archers will tell you that an archer is meant to deliver damage and that doing anything else makes you a fail archer.
But people I squad with have expressed appreciation for a variety of things -- basically, anything that makes your squad work better can be a very good idea.
Archers have relatively fast ranged attacks. Wizards and Seekers can be faster, sometimes, but they have their own issues, and we tend to have longer range. We have a stun, a freeze, two slows (one that works on bosses), some short term tanking abilities, some kiting abilities and a relatively economical attack mechanism. We even have a knockback that sometimes can be useful. We also have some nice ranged AoEs.
Anyways, some people will tell you that you are fail if you do not tune yourself for maximum DPS and pull aggro constantly. And, there is an element of truth there, and even our ability to pull aggro can be useful.
But in my opinion, if you are not helping to control the flow of battle in squad -- keeping the squishy people alive, pulling aggro off of clerics, controlling monsters when they need to be controled, and so on -- then you are wasting your potential. (And, yes, this will cost a bit, in terms of mana potions and maybe other consumables, but we are not the only class that has costs, and we can solo extremely cheaply when compared with other classes. Anyways, if you try and invest your efforts well, you should be fine.)0 -
