Natural Disasters in PWI?

So I heard this rumor in the first PW: Genesis sticky that each of the non-Earthguard main cities(aside from 1k and Dreamweaver) will receive a natural disaster based on certain conditions on that server(Etherblade freezes, Lost City suffers and earthquake, Plume burnt down from a fire, RT blacks out from power loss, Archosaur floods).

I searched this forum and found nothing else on the topic, and I'm now wondering. So was this just a rumor? Is the feature in-game now? Will we get the feature in a minor expansion in the near future?

    The evil person in me was actually looking forward to the other starter cities being in shambles since it was advertised that there was gonna be disasters and stuff.

    I'm pretty sure that was a either a rumor or foreshadowing.

    The plot the earthguard get talks about the current state of affairs. Basically, evil is on the rise so the earthguard awoke. The catch is they were late. The god they serve has basically been beaten.

    I think any disasters are stuff that could come in expansions. Not stuff we have now.

    Sounds like a bunch of rumors.

    I think this expansion has had the most rumors in PW history.

    Lost hit with an earthquake? it'd have to be hastily rebuilt as a shabby, temporary refugee camp to give the untamed some makeshift shelter before...

    I was really hoping for something similar to what happens in a game that rhymes with "sift"... I was expecting portals to randomly open in the cities, with wraiths pouring out of them or something.

    As it stands now, the Earthguard came here not because of any Pan Gu prophecy or any world destruction... The Earthguard came here to save us all from assassins in West Arch / SP / HT. b:chuckle

    Other MMO's are constantly destroying, building, expanding, OBLITERATING, moving, or otherwise MASSIVELY changing their cities (IE: in one MMO I play, a dam was destroyed after it had existed for 4 years; A city downstream is now completely GONE, all of the remaining trees are bent, broken, mangled, or just standing at an angle, and there are quests to kill mobs that are now there feeding off the aftermath). Granted, these changes take long periods of time, weeks, months, etc., and sometimes are parts of expansions, large patches, or similar...

    PWI cities are completely static, except the catshops.

    So... Since PWI (and by PWI, I mean Perfect World overall) is lame about this, and hasn't bothered to copy elements that many other MMO's have been using for years, phasing, kill-able NPC's, improved auto-pathing (which PWE, in fact, put into their own games), etc., why do you think they would make any kind of changes to the cities along these routes?

    Personally, I think it would be neat if they treated cities like Guild Bases, with changes. IE, the entire server is treated as a faction, and there are NPC's that give quests. Doing said quests, as dailies, give construction mats that can be used to expand the city, lower prices at Vendors, provide better NPC services, add additional NPC's, etc., and would be available to all. On a random chance, or GM triggered event, an Invasion would come, and if not fought off, services would be lost, damaged, destroyed, etc.

    We could shut Duke the hell up, make cities totally dynamic, give meaning to the friday invasions other than my 100 Psy friend QQing at me that she didn't get first in class, and it would give people something to actually DO at endgame.

    If I remember correctly, that was only supposed to happen to the Chinese version. Wether or not it did...your guess is as good as mine.

    Edit: Their expansion was all about doomsday (hence why it was called 2012), our expansion is about rebirth (hence Genesis).

    If I remember correctly, that was only supposed to happen to the Chinese version. Wether or not it did...your guess is as good as mine.

    Edit: Their expansion was all about doomsday (hence why it was called 2012), our expansion is about rebirth (hence Genesis).

    What say what says what? But rebirth comes after destruction, are we AHEAD of the Chinese expansion? well damn that.

    They are caused BY natural disasters, do that make them natural too? Either way maybe its a blackout of the sun.

    Proof that the rest of the map is being 'overhauled' as insinuated by the pre-release propaganda created by PWE?

    I'm calling BS on this particular event actually happening.

    It would be pretty cool if they changed every part of the map. Maby by Lost if an earthqauke happened maby there should be the beginning of a deep valley tht stretches all the way across to the left. If fallen into you will just be teleported bck up to where you fell in. Maby have some of the water and beautiful trees and stuff from the earthgaurd area leak into the desert area from mountians collapsing from the earthqaukes . Archasaur flooded would be pretty cool. If archasaur is gonna be flooded i think all houses there should now be rebuilt atop docks above the buildings devestated by the flooding. The giant volcano above ether should erupt and have lava flowing out of it and have tht area above ether be like burning heart.
    Speaking of burning heart all the crust or layers of dried lava should be just about all gone and just have the whole area be one giant lava lake with the volcano in the distance bigger from lava exploding out of it and creating more dried layers of molten rock. The town in burning heart could be on what little crust of lava is left. The instances there should now just be big holes leading down into the crusty old lava. All the lava exploding out of the volcano in the distance in burning heart should be spread all around 1k streams. The main part of 1k should stay the same. The north,east(west?) and south should be gone from being run over by all the lava pitruding from burning heart.
    There should be more mountians raised up from the ground in the north with big never ending blizzards. There should an icey tunnel leading into fcc sense it was buried and had to be dug up again to get in it. There should be lava in that deep valley far north. All the water should be gone.
    The swamps should be flooded from never ending rain now. Mountians should be raised all around the swamps to have a lake be there. Dreamweaver should be in shambles from storms starting up over the sea. If plume is burnt to the ground there should be a cause. So i think the lakes down in the plume area should have under water volcano's tht have erupted and have devestated the villages and the main city in tht area.
    The island in the TB area where PQ is should have parts of the island tht has sank below the water ,the deserty area on tht island where the giser looking things are should be erupting boiling hot water. The main city island of the TB should have water just below the door step to there city and any thing thts under tht sea lvl should also be under water. The blood lake area behind the TB main city should be deeper and have gases erupting from it from methane or CO2 erupting from under ground into it creating a death trap for anything dumb enough to walk into it. All water tht is left should have a deathly green color to support the natural disaster theme.

    There was a natural disaster! Didn't you guys notice it? RT and Dreamweaver had a major lag spike and everyone got dc'd, squads doing BH/TT/Nirvy runs suffered the most. However, after the disaster, west archo was lag free for once!

    APS nerf was already introduced to PWCN but was returned to its original state from what I know.

    Yes, they have stated that some planned parts of the expansion weren't released in time.

    No, disasters weren't a part of that plan, or at least nothing based on the information which has been released so far indicates that they were.

    No, there will not be an APS nerf.

    I guess you completely missed the propaganda videos that PWE created. Talking about total disaster that completely changed the world and everything being different. Umm... yeah.
