It's driving me nuts lately and getting on my nervs... Can't even follow squad chat sometimes and if I go afk for 1 min I even lose my whispers lol b:angry
Can you please make a way to make Duke shut up please... b:shutup
With this pack sales the spam is getting ridiculous and I seriously don't give a flying about who buys them. I think many more people think like me and I curse in the ones who had the idea to implement this everytime I see it...
A way to put system chat off, not that it's so important anyway, or just make him shut up completely, I know in the last patch you made him talk less but really, I'm not interested on seeing who has tokens of best luck every 5 seconds... b:bye

at this point, i've given up on them ever silencing the red spam. i just wish they'd have the guts to be honest about why they won't. after all, it's not like they can't, they can shut him up about other things; there is a specific reason they're not shutting up the perfect token spam, it isn't a technical reason, and they're being coy about what it is. that coyness, the hypocrisy of it, is starting to grate on me as much as the spam does.
basically, i want some PWE employee to stand up in a public (online) forum and proudly declare: "duke shouting about perfect tokens is considered in-game advertising for the packs. we will never silence that spam, because it makes us wheelbarrows full of money. quit complaining and buy more packs!"

A long time ago, slot machines in Vegas used to pay out in coins. When you won, the coins would come spilling out of the hopper into a tray, making a loud rattling/clanking noise, and attracting people from all around. The casino operators discovered that the sound of one person winning would cause dozens more people to start shoveling money hand over fist into nearby machines. As time went by, slot machines got more sophisticated, and rather than depending on just the clanking of coins, slot machines started flashing lights and ringing bells and blowing horns every time somebody won even a small jackpot. Like Pavlov's dogs, people flock to machines to start shoveling money in when they hear somebody else win.
Duke Spammage is the PWI equivalent to coins falling into the tray of a slot machine. The technique is effective, so it's probably here to stay.0 -

Nobody cares about tokens of best luck. I'd rather see the interesting text about someone making awesome gear or such. Just seeing Player has gotten Token of Best Luck is extremely annoying. NOBODY WANTS TO SEE IT.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Problem is thats the same channel as the one that stuff everyone needs to see is announced on if I'm not mistaken tho I could be. What they need to do is move duke to the world chat channel. Then make him spam 30 times more to drown out all the WC spammers who say rather nasty stuff some times.b:chuckle0 -

Like I said in my post, I know you guys made him shut up a bit with the last patch, cause he even talked about charms -.- but I'm afraid is not enough. He still shouts for perfect luck tokens and wing trophies... and it does like 1 time every 3 seconds, which is waaaaaaaaaay too much.
Nobody cares about it, if you guys wanna show us how much money you win with this game, you succeded, but now that the goal is done, please make him shut up, nobody cares, really b:shutup
And I'm sorry Fidolla, but a jackpot every 3 seconds won't make me go buy them xD more like getting sick of em

It may not cause *you* to rush out and buy packs, but it causes other people to do so. For every person that gets pissed off at the spam, there may be 100 people who were considering buying packs that get prompted by the spam.

Would be nice if smb made a game modification file where u can disale this anoying spam, it`s against the rules but the hell if 99 pct of the playerbase doesnt like the red spam and devs are being **** about it time to bend the rules.0

Rage all you want. Ever been in a casino? Walk through the slot machines sometime. Difficult to hold a conversation over **** Clark, Alex Trebek, Homer Simpson, and the rest of them screaming about bonus rounds and jackpots.
The spam is effective, and the more people rage about how it it pops it pops up 3 times a minute, the more effective it appears to be.0 -
Duke shouts: Let it be known that FiDollaYou is right, it's all about psychology. When people see other people winning they get an urge to gamble themselves. To prove that is how it works, just check all the red spam.How come, if someone asks a question in a forum, at least 13/20 posts answers the question in the same exact way, 5/20 word the exact same answer differently and 2/20 say something completely unrelated to both life and death?0

Why stop the spam when it works so damn well?
I know people like to say they do/will quit if red spam isn't stopped, but the fact of the matter is that no one ever quit because of an occasional bit of spam that only takes up 2 lines of chat.
If someone quits from spam chat, it's because they were already planning to quit, not the chat.
I see it's effectiveness every day too. Just today a friend of mine mentioned that he saw one of his own friends get 2 insane drops in a row after opening just a few packs. This friend of mine goes on to buy 200 packs, and only gets a perfect token and mp plat charm.
Point is, from a business prospective, it's genius.0 -

I fully understand the psychology behind the Duke shouts, and yes it does work to a degree.
Those of us who do buy "packs" on occasion usually wait for a sale, then go to town with them. I myself have gotten some cool gear and they sell great in my catshop too. The problem with the Duke shouts is not the fact that he shouts or what he shouts about. It's the total accumulation of System spam that hits us...

Getting hit with that many types of Shouts on different days has a negative effect. You can do all the testing you like. Too much WILL have an adverse effect.
I have never entered into an event because of a shout. I have never joined in bidding because the spam p*sses me off. I don't care who gets married.
Getting hit with all this system spam, being FORCED to endure it across all and every channel is a bad thing. Believe me when I say the amount of conversation lost with faction members, squad and dear friends p*ssess off more people than just me.
Think about this PWI during a TW watching for instructions coming through on either Faction Chat or Squad Chat, plus watching for the enemy. All you get to see is Red Typing about who bid what on "I Don't Give A Damn Item, Because I Am In TW" and you miss battle instructions.
I did my own fix for that. I stopped doing TW's. The rewards aren't worth the aggravation that system spam causes me. So for now I've stopped upgrading my gear. No need to spend money on gear to only get aggravated during a TW.
You don't even give us the option to turn off System Messages in 1 channel, where our conversation at that time is more important to us than any System or Duke shout. P*ssed off players DON'T SPEND MONEY. HAPPY PLAYERS DO.
Be smart about this and make us ALL HAPPY. Looks like you have tons who like the System spams and Duke Shouts, but there is a large percentage of us that hate it and it is effecting your income. Give us that 1 chat channel where we can turn it off. For me Faction Chat is the most important. Try it. Do a test for a couple of months and see if your income goes up, because both groups are happy.0 -
Today my faction leader came back online after being gone for a week due to RL...I had to spam my own faction chat just to make sure that he even saw my comments, and it took us 10X longer to get business addressed because of the red spam.
I'm not going to disagree on the psychology of inciting people to spend money on packs and whatnot, and while I'm a healer and NEED token prices to be down and therefore look forward to pack sales, I really don't need to know this stuff.
Unlike a lot of players on this game, I don't have money coming out of my rump, god knows I wish I did. I grind, and grind, and grind some more for what little bits I can get through the game. I don't get teles, I don't get packs for perfect tokens, and god knows, I don't need to know who got them, what's the point other than boosting sales? NOTHING!
What I do need to do is make sure that my faction runs properly, and that drama is kept to a minimum, and that's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do when the duke is shouting on a constant basis. If people are getting married, great, cool, fine, that's all well and good, and grats to them. Those shouts don't even bother me because they aren't happening all the time.
Bidding hall I can even understand, as I have bid on items before and need to keep track of that kind of thing when I am in a dungeon, but really, I don't need to know who got a charm, I don't need to know that so and so got a perfect token, I don't care.
So PLEASE, stick a thor sized ball gag into the duke's mouth and shut him up on who's getting what! And yes, I voted too, it's getting obnoxious.0
