Suppose players of Perfect World don't upgrade their client from Rising Tide to Genesis. What happens when a player in Rising Tide meets a player in Genesis such as a Seeker in the same grounds where they are fighting the same monsters? And for the Rising Tide player what happens to those in their friends or factions list who where once in Rising Tide but are now in Genesis?

Absolutely no. OP - You will not encounter a Earthguard class without updating your client/game.

Yep, I did. I started up the game before installing the update just to see what happens. At the start button screen a popup asked me if I wanted to install the upgrade. I said no and the game started normally in Rising Tide. Everything worked normally as before but I didn't stay long because I didn't know what I was to look for to make the comparison with the upgrade.

I'm assuming as an answer to my own question that the two game client versions are on separate servers. So that one version doesn't interact with the other version, except where it keeps the stats of our avatar made from before. Unless I'm wrong. I was thrown when I read that Genesis is an expansion. I thought it was like adding an extra room to the house, but I can see now that won't work very well in the game.
