Mystics: A Veno's Best Friend?

So after reading countless posts about the rumors of mystics replacing venos and taking a further look into their skills does anyone else think that Mystics are the best class for venos to team up with? Not just because of the ability that we can heal each others pets but also for a number of other reasons:
or
3 magic DD's (mystic, veno, and mystic's Storm Mistress pet) and 1 melee DD (veno's pet)
or
1 magic DD, 1 "healer", and 2 melee DD's (pets).
or
2 "healers" (healing pets that is) and 2 DD's (both melee or 1 melee and 1 magic)
or
1 magic DD and 3 melee DD's (pets and fox form veno).
or
1 "healer" and 3 melee DD's (pets and fox form veno).
Not only would this benefit nicely in PvE but it seems it could make an interesting 2 person team for pk/pkk.
My question is has anyone formed a veno + mystic party and does this theory hold out to be true or does it work out quite differently than what I assume. I am physically unable to test this concept out at the moment but if anyone already has would they mind contributing their thoughts on the subject at hand?
- Mystic can heal us as well as pets.
- Death rate is almost non-exsistant thanks to the mystics rev buff.
- We can form a nice mini squad (see below)
or
3 magic DD's (mystic, veno, and mystic's Storm Mistress pet) and 1 melee DD (veno's pet)
or
1 magic DD, 1 "healer", and 2 melee DD's (pets).
or
2 "healers" (healing pets that is) and 2 DD's (both melee or 1 melee and 1 magic)
or
1 magic DD and 3 melee DD's (pets and fox form veno).
or
1 "healer" and 3 melee DD's (pets and fox form veno).
- Combined we can perform some very nice debuffs.
- etc.

Aww there goes my clers spot as a venos friend b:cry0
-
I really really like this idea. I am going to test it out.0

I have thought of the same thing.
Probably the Venomancer & Mystic combination is even better than Cleric & Mystic.
The latter can't tank many things nor do they have those incredible debuffs to increase the damage output.
We should be not afraid of Mystics nor hate them. We should actually be happy they are here and take advantage of their abilities.
My very favourite class will always be the Venomancer and I can understand the worries some of the people have around here but I will repeat myself, the real "enemy" or Venomancers and every other caster class is the 5.0APS.
Psychics didn't replace Wizards. The wizards weren't very common to begin with. Even two years ago, the wizard population was small. Mystic playstyle is different than Venomancers and that is enough of a reason the latter won't be replaced.
Overall, I think Venomancer & Mystic is a really good combination, especially due to the pets/summons. Like the OP wrote, you can have different teams for different situations.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Never ran into a situation where I felt I needed another pet healer (rather matk). Our pets and us already are flexible for phys/mag.
I'd prefer buffs, stackable curses, and purify.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
I don't know that I'd choose either class based on buffs alone. It's easy to have an alt buff on standby whenever you need a refresh.
The veno+mystic combo would be nice for pet healing if you don't have the -chan yourself and want to slip in more pet heals.
The veno+cleric combo would be better suited for BB/purify scenarios.
Both have their plusses and minuses; it depends on what you're doing.0 -
True, I should've specified in retrospect for certain things a cleric can never be replaced. However for running around questing, grinding, and pk/pkking I think a mystic would be better suited, mostly for as in most cases, its killing potential.
Granted a Mystic's attacks are a little lacking in the damage department compared to other classes but its to be expected as they are a hybrid support class. Therefore its killing potential should be higher than a cleric's since obviously a cleric has superior heals so the mystic "should" have superior damage dealing cababilities. Which in turn would be nice for said activites listed above but the fact that it has decent healing potential as well as mutiple attack methods via summoning or direct attacks would add to the overall versatility of the group.
Clerics do have the superior buffs however so that is to be considered but I'm willing to assume it's much easier to obtain cleric buffs from a stranger nearby than a mystic's buff as the mp cost for the rev buff on a mystic is quite large and most people would not want to waste that much mp on a complete stranger.
So yes clerics have the advantage over mystics in some respects and vice versa but as a generalization in preforming non-instance/dungeon or fighting bosses scenarios who would you think would be the better partner for a Venomancer?0 -

This may be true, but we still have to wait for their 79/100 skills and their Sage/Demon skills just to make sure this remains true.
But I believe even with their Sage/Demon skills and 79/100 skills Mystics won't be able to replace anyone. b:pleased

Sage and Demon skill descriptions for Mystics can already be found.
Also I agree, I don't believe they'll be able to replace anyone completely. What I ment was would Mystics potenially make the best "lvling buddy" for a veno?0 -
IMHO, if you're talking about straight levelling, the best partner you can have is a good friend playing a class that they like and are good at. Every class has something that they can bring to the table and for questing in general, no one class is a necessity.
For instances and the harder open-map bosses, you have a couple scenarios:
- The boss is pet tankable [Exclude the "which-pet" discussion here. This assumes whatever pet you chose to use is capable of tanking the boss.]
If it's a boarderline boss. A mystic would probably be a little more helpful than a cleric. They can help heal your pet (might not happen because of the mana drain) and have their summon as a back up tank in case your pet goes down (gives you a little breathing room to revive/resummon).
If it's a boss you can solo, any class that can survive while DD'ing will benefit you.
- The boss is not pet tankable
Here, it comes down to the veno's survivability, as the veno herself will most likely be the tank. If the veno doesn't need purify/BB, then either cleric or mystic should be fine. If the veno can barely tank the boss, then a cleric would have the edge with stacking HoT and purify.
If the veno can't tank the boss at all, then you'll probably need outside help anyway and the concept of a levelling buddy becomes less relevant.
--
So if you have a friend that wants to level with your veno, and they're trying to pick between cleric and mystic, have them try both classes a few levels and see which they like best. Both can be beneficial and regardless of what you choose, you'll need to get outside help at some point or another. If you go with classes you like, you'll end up having more fun along the way.

I'm looking forward to playing duo with mystic, although I may wait for a while untill enough mystic-players learn their classes b:laugh I'm still in the process of learning my mystie myself, and the 2x exp is not helping me with it at all - almost lvl 33 now, and still having quests to do on mobs lvl25-28, which I two-shot almost every time. It's just too loving easy to learn enough, but I'm doing my best.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well i had a chance to duo with a Veno and her herc. for my fb 39. I mostly used salvation on her and i as she sent her Herc to tank 3 or 5 mobs at a time. Salvation would give here a shield buff that absorbed 1k dmg. while i DD and if i took aggro she just DD as i took over healing her pet. Or i'll just heal her as she tank a set of mobs while her pet tanked another set of mobs. Salvation would spam both of us with her buffs. Prevent me from getting killed and reducing the amount of dmg she would take, and heals i need to cast.
The way we work was amazing, but then again most of my mystic play style is base of playing a Veno and the Healing part is a bit new to me because I never took my Cleric to a high in lvs.
But all i need to worry about is that she always had Salvation buff on and if she did we would be okay. ^.^v0 -

Eva, I just got my salvation. Do you have to click on yourself b4 it will heal you? Still trying to figure that one out.
How are you handling the severe manna drain?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

super late reply XD
Salvation you need to click on who you want to buff and never have it on auto buff. Reason is that if she attacks and she can cast the buff, she'll cast it then attack the mob. Even though no one gets the buff. So waste of mp.
About the Mp drain, I farmed ahead of time before mystics came out so i'm popoing in pills using the other mp buff that gives you 50mp/sec for 10 mins, and on top of that i got some plat. charms. Lucked out found some cheap charms in arch got about 5 for less than 9mil.0 -
i love this combo. i have a heavy venomancer so healing isnt as easy as it is for an AA. i usually run with a mystic and i must say with her i have no fear :P its a great combo b:laugh0
