Can't Logon - It has been difficult, now impossible

Hi,

Today I tried to log into my game account and I kept getting the error: incorrect account name or password.

However, the same account and password were working properly two days ago. I can still log into the website just fine.

I tried many things:

1. I changed my password through the website.
2. I tried verifying the game files.
3. I went through your website for trouble shooting and FAQ questions and answers.
4. I changed UAC settings and ran as Administrator.
5. I tried all sorts of compatibility modes.
6. I verified that I am using the right user name.
7. I reset the password several times.
8. I always use both the on-screen and actual keyboards.
9. I am careful to be sure Caps Lock, etc. are not activated.
10. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice.

    I am running Win 7 x64 with lots of RAM and a very fast connection. (what's wrong with this site - it will not let me post!?!)

    I am not banned (that I know of). I was able to logon to PWI Rising Tide with difficulty and multiple attempts before, but not now. I am running ver. 1.4.2 Build 2305. Have tried turning off Microsoft Security Essentials. Also tried with Force Log checked.

    Help, please

    i had the same problem. you probably clicked force log. just reatart your computer, log in, and don't click the shiny button okay

    thats not the problem that wouldn't make sense

    Do you need to change your password to have ONLY English letters and numbers in it? No spaces, no special characters at all.

    The games do not accept some special characters for passwords, even though the website account page does. You're able to login to the website i presume?

    Dylanl - perhaps I was unclear. I should have said I tried to login with the force log BOTH checked (once or twice) and UN-checked (dozens and dozens of times). Also, that's an irrelevant non-solution.

    Ozimov - I know about the English character and numeral thing. My password has only ever consisted of English letters and two numbers. I changed it again today since I had nothing else to do...(<--still cannot login)

    I started a ticket AND answer here because I do not know what's fastest.

    and now I can login...after 2 days and scores of attempts...I obviously don't have a life - lol

    This is something that started last night for me and is still happening today. I know that my connection to the servers is just fine because I already have a client open and connected and working fine. My ping to the servers reads below 100, and a traceroute does not show any issues at all.

    Yet, when I attempt to login.. It sits there with "Logging into the Game" in the middle of the screen. It will eventually log in, but it can take a few minutes. It does not ever get the timer that I would consider normal.

    Being someone that works in tech support, and has already gone through several various troubleshooting steps with the GM's here, I have already checked everything on my end, and in between that could be an issue. Right now it is pointing to some kind of hangup on the login servers, but it isn't consistent.

    My guess would be that there were too many login requests at that particular point in time for the server to handle and we're getting stuck in a queue.
