what is maximum endurance?

I acquired a necklace that says it has a maximum endurance of +25%. What does that mean? What has maximum endurance?

    every piece of gear has durability on it, once durability reaches 0 you get no benefit from that gear even if you have it equipped.

    maximum endurance +25% means you can use the item for 25% longer than someone with the same equipment without this stat UNTIL you have to repair it.
