The beat of the song is only okay for the flow of the action in the video. But what really hurts your rescore is that the lyrics have nothing to do with the end of the world and it being saved. So when I listen to it there's a real disconnect.

Not to mention the song is very modern for a high fantasy vid. There's little to none songs made by bands like 30 seconds to mars that can work cohesively. b:surrender

I'll (semi)agree that the lyrics have little to do with "the end of the world and it being saved" but I'm not getting the modern part. I learned (from being a communications major) that the music does have an impact on how you see the video, which is why i decided to use that particular song, because I think it goes along with the action shown in the video, and not the story that's supposed to go with the video. But i do get what you're saying, it's hard finding good music for this sort of thing (for me at least lol)

Edit: I think that the song does make some since, but meh. ^^

Renza - Raging Tide

The song is good, problem is you should of really edited the song so it actually matched when specific scenes stopped and carried on, example at 34 seconds where the music went heavy, it should of went heavy at 37 seconds, so if you started the music at least 3 seconds into the vid, it would of worked perfectly, also where the music went quite for a second at 57 seconds, if you made the music pause and then continue at 1min 2 seconds in the vid, it could of been better again.

If you are using any video editing program, you should try learn good timing for when music starts and stops to sync the vid instead of just letting it play as it really does help, so my rating for the music to the vid, i suppose ill give it a 6/10 for an attempt.

Protip: Most "trailer" music is composed by various groups for that specific purpose - the vast majority of the time they're strictly instrumental, so that lyrics don't detract from the images being conveyed. When "actual" music is used, it's carefully edited to sync up. No production studio is going to take music off the radio and just slap it to their film.

So can you make 30STM work? Sure, but you need to tweak it, thoroughly. Adjust the volume levelling so that it hits harder during the text cuts (to carry viewer interest) and fade lower to backup when the action runs, reinforcing the visuals rather than overpowering them. Think carefully about each section of video and how it meshes with the lyrics.
The Legend of the Guardians trailer is a prime example of this. NFS:Hot Pursuit (1:48-ish) also put them to good use.

Hey Kris! I've not been watching people's trailers, for the most part, but I did make quite a few of my own. But I thought I'd do you the favor of watching as your friend.

I don't have too much good to say though, unfortunately. I think maybe if you found that same song without lyrics it would go much better. I love the feel of it, but the singing make it a little frustrating to watch. This is really the type of trailer to have instrumentals, and if any singing, very little. As well as without the lyrics, it would be a little easier to match up crucial timing with the sounds rather than the words. As for timing, it feels like the strong part of the music starts too early. The part inside the cave feels like it needs to be pretty calm, and it just gets too crazy with things too mellow at that part.

Maybe you would do me the honor of watching the best of mine (in my opinion) and tell me what you think? Maybe get a better feel of what I'm talking about at the same time. Your attempt definitely has potential but needs a little something different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-NEKvgptqs

Thanks for the replies guys, i'm redoing it ^^, @ Shiv, you know, i liked it, the only issue with me is that some of the music sounds a little technoish, but thats just me, otherwise, I think it was good .

Here's another video, I kept the voice audio in the beginning and at the end, but i took your advice about the timing, and theres no audio in the middle of it. I'm currently making another one with no vocals at all, I wanna see how that does.
