I have no idea what I'm doing, please help. I'm familiar with how the game itself works, however, through many failed trial attempts, I cannot seem to reach a character creation screen. Frustration has set in. I'd love to be part of the Perfect World family, but without a character or a step in the right direction, I'm lost.

When you open up the client and log in, Press the "Create" button on the bottom of the long transparent bar that's on the right. This will take you to the character creation screen where you can pick what race/class/gender/name/appearance, etc you want.

After you're finished customizing, press the Confirm button on the bottom left to create your character. You can have up to 8 characters per account.

If you mean how do you modify an already existing character, if the character is less than 2 days old, click on the character, and press Modify. After two days you'll have to get a Makeover scroll and take it to any Cosmetic lady in the major cities to change the way your character looks.
