    well.. I notice the adverts advert for stuff I searched for on the interwebz >.>
    was looking for a book at a certain site.. refresh pwi-forum. Get an advert of the trhee books I last clicked on....

    Alright I'll explain, as simple as I can.

    There's a banner advert at the top of these forums which change occasionally, half of the time they only display based on what they know about you, mostly country, so they can target the adverts better. When your browser requests for the page, the advertisement service also gets supplied things like your browser and ISP if it can, so they know roughly where you are. But because the idiots don't know my gender, age nor what I'm interested in (or even if I even have things like a credit card), they still display adverts that are completely inappropriate for me....such as a cosmetic surgery one with a plasticated woman on it. I don't know why they pulled that up unless it's because PWI has "customise appearance" and such in it's tags and/or description....

    Sometimes it's a lol for the fail-advertising, but more often I find it insulting, because it's supposed to be targeted despite knowing it's just because they don't know anything else about me. Aside from cookies, which they're not allowed to access, they just an IP address, which is shared and also recycles now.

    As for searching, I can't think of anything I've searched for which would bring up any of the adverts I'm seeing right now....and I clear all my cookies often. It's possible it's what others have searched for with this IP address (I'm on a non-static IP address now, so it recycles from a pool each time my router reconnects) but a lot of ISP's still do that, so it's inefficient for the advertisers to do that....and then there's those who share my internet connection....but I doubt my sister or mum has looked those things up....I think. <_<
