    So I was thinking today I have a buff that increases defense but only hp when I squad with a barb. In general people say shard with citrines but would garnets be good because my own buff increases the effect? Just a thought maybe half and half would be best?

      I know the math is somewhere on the forum and I am far too lazy (and my dinner's about to be done) to find it. There's a breakdown of full garnets, full citrines, and full defense level and what that means in terms of taking damage. If I remember correctly, half-half just gives you lame damage prevention. Though, of course, without the breakdowns, my opinion is rather useless. I might come back later and edit this post with the correct data.

      waiting for para to yell......I am not sure if this is mixed but I was always told.....garnets on some things like cape for example but then citrines for hp......Just seems like the bonus would be magnified by my own buffs which I can count on. I cant count on hp barb buffs all the time

      You can toss in your shard combinations while using PWcalc to see how you hold up in taking damage.

      Half and half wored fine for me (still that way)... can always reshard to pure garnets once your armor refines are high enough that you don't need citrines.
