PWI Overruning Files

Hey all,
So lately my Dad's poited out that some of his files have been overrun by PWI's patcher. When he tries to open any file with the same extention as the lancher/patcher (I think it's .cup), instead of opening his file it opens the PWI launcher/patcher. So far we've been lucky as nothing vital has been hit, but it's annoying for him.
The files are related to his flight simulator 'Condor' and some terrains he downloaded if that helps.
Thanks!

it HASN'T overwritten ANY of his files UNLESS you deliberately saved them to his flight sim folder and named them the same name as one of his files.
what PWI has done is set the filetype .cup to be recognised in windows as a PWI file so you can double click on the patch file to update the game
you can fix this by opening Windows Explorer > Select Tools > Folder Options > File Types tab
find the "cup" entry, and click on it, at the bottom of the window the "change" button will be enabled
click on this and then browse for the flight simulater application that his terrain files should find (you might need to go to the flight sim website to find which executable to select if there is more than one in the flight sim folder) once executable selected keep clicking ok till you are out of the folder options window.
double clicking on .cup files will now open the executable you selected, rather than launching the pwi patcher. you will not be able to double click on pwi cup files to patch your game.
what you will need to do is run the launcher, then when the option to autoupdate comes up, cancel it and select manual patch and then browse for the cup file YOU have downloaded. or just use the auto update.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Thanks for the info ZeroDefects!
Also, if your dad will (if the program allows it) open up the files from within the flight simulator, instead externally from it, they may work ok too.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?
