I started my Archer and levelling 1str and 4dex every level.
Is this ok for starting out? Or should I maybe put a bit more vit?

So sorry if this is a nub post on a class forum (with so many terms and items I don't understand yet!) But still learning :3

Oh, and is there a way to make close attacks do more dmg? Or is there a pushback skill that archers get? Because that would help when monsters run up to me T__T;

Thanks :3
b:cute

4/1 is a good build. And yeah, Archers do get a knockback skill down the line. You can also the skills that inflict Metal damage to enemies that are close range as said skills don't suffer the damage penalty.

I'm starting to play an archer occasionally. I found that training my genie to have Earthquake really helps because it's a knock-back skill.
You can get genie from the Watcher of the Earth in any major city. Earthquake requires 2 Earth affinity on the genie, which means it has to be at least lvl 5.
Kiting helps too. That means running away from a mob and turning to do a hit or 2 before running some more.
My first character was an archer on Dreamweaver. He got to mid-60's but I really didn't know what I was doing.

if you still put every level 1str and 4dex you still are pure if you start putting vit and magic you will be hybrid or sth. I recommend to be pure they kill fast & they PWN!!. b:pleased

    Frost Arrow - Level 9
    Knockback - Level 19

    - Hit 'R' to bring up the Skill window.
    - Click on "Skill Tree" on the lower right side of the window.
    - Hover mouse over the skills for in-depth information.

Atm I can tell you to go with a 4 Dex 1 Str build because, my HP has been up until lvl 37 untouched. (I have a 7 Dex 2 Str 1 Vit Build.)

atm I also have a lvl 9 Archer on DW. o.o Damage ... Damage is good.

I typically start off using Take Aim ... :x I half target's HP with it. O.O and I KO with Crits. xD

lvl 1 - 9 use Take Aim -> Normal Attack
lvl 10 - 19 use Take Aim -> Normal Attack (For chi or until close) -> Frost arrow (which slows) -> Run a bit farther to increase damage output -> Normal Attack until Slow is removed or enough chi (at this point continue Frost Arrow untill died but, at this point it is usually died.)
lvl 12 - 19 Grats you can now use the Critical sitiuation move, Lightning Strike. If found in a close range area use this to kill enemies or do damage to them while stunned in place.
lvl 20 - 29 adds Knockback Arrow as well as Winged Pledge. Winged pledge is used when mob is magic resistant and cost less than Lightning Strike. Bad news is this is a close range move.
30+ Adds Aim Low to move pool. The move cost a spark but, it is nice to use as a starting move or a save-your-tail-in-a-critcal-moment move when you have it.
39+ Adds Stunning Arrow, which is used when you lack Frost Arrow/Knockback Arrow/ Take Aim.
49+ Adds Deadly Arrow, use with Aim Low for Maximized Damage.
59+ Are Sig move, Barrage of Arrows.

Thank you so much for the replies everyone :3
I think I have a good start to the class, and earthquake will defiently be put on my genie when I get the skill (all though not sure of the lvl =P)
Just picked up second wind <3

Having fun playing an archer! Light armor atm, now reading about sage/demon (>.<) and seriously, kinda confused all over again...but that can wait b:chuckle

Can't wait for some endgame content...however, I'm stuck on Spirit Cultivation quests and finding FB29 lol.
Still a nub. And I probably will be at lvl 100 b:cute

If you're on Heaven's Tear and as lost as me, msg me :3
