Good classes?

I'm not asking what the best class is or for anyone to tell me what to play and I realize this has been asked a lot but all the information I've been able to find so far is pre-Tideborn so it's a little outdated. I believe I have a general idea of what every class does(or rather, is SUPPOSED to do).
What I want to know is which classes are actually useful throughout the game until end-game, because I have no idea whether they're balanced or not. Also, which are in short supply, or are generally always needed?
I have a hard time having fun if I'm not being useful so I'm leaning towards Venomancer or Cleric.

I think how use full a class in squad is depend on what the squad do and the current game mechanic. My explanation :
On the beginning
The class use full in team in initial is Barbarian and Cleric. Venomancer has job of luring here. The rest is a DD or DPS.
After awhile
People start to find out BM capability to become the tank in squad and caster class tanking magical mob.
Legendary Pet Hercules
Venomancer start become famous tank after legendary pet coming to the game. People comparing barb vs hercules.
High lv
People start learning that some classes able to become tank if played right and have right equipments. And they also start become more used to glitch on game mechanic, which need certain class to abuse it.
Packs
People start think if you have expensive equipment & lots supply you can tank many things.
Physical classes (more likely the archers) find out 5 aps possibility. Venomancer class got problems to get in to random squad (more likely high lv) if they doesn't have hercules.
Genie
Venomancer get a rival on luring mobs. Genie help a lot to keep people survive in dungeon and pvp. Some of genie skill abused to annoy people in pve.
Tideborn
The traditional tank class start get problems with the new classes ability to get agroo so fast and new item pieces that making many classes become so strong suddenly. Some class especially wizard complains that they losing their position in PVE squad. 5 aps suddenly become a trend as the tank and the DPS in end game squad.
Earthguard -coming-
Venomancer start worrying their position get replaced by mystic and their de buffer position get replaced by seeker. Wizard worrying their position will shrink further more with coming of mystic and cleric wondering about mystic ability to give buff for auto revive.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

That's a lot of information, thank you.0

that was a good answer above but to sum up:
barbarians and clerics are always needed in squads. barbs are especially hard to find because of the repair costs. its also very slow to level and generally boring to play.
as a veno myself i worry about mystic replacing me. but still the whole deal about veno is that, its tank and healer wrapped up in one so go for veno if you wanna play solo.
about end game;
you ll wanna do TW, veno is not best class for this if you dont have nix. which is very expensive. clerics are both good dd and always needed.0 -
Yep, I have to agree with everything that has already been said. Every squad will need a Cleric and a Barb. I've heard some very high level players say this isn't so. But, most people aren't 90+. If you play a Cleric or Barb people will always ask you to join their squads.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Again, Clerics and Barbs are the most demanded classes for just about any activity, although a Venomancer with a good tank pet can sometimes (but not always) replace them in dungeons. By the way, if any of your friends play PWI, it's very nifty if one of you makes a Barb and the other makes a Cleric. You'll be able to do just about anything together.
As for the other classes, what really matters is that you test your character and get a good grasp of what you can and can't do, and discuss strategies with other players (definitely see the class discussion forums here). A tactful player, who knows how to get the most benefit from their skills, is always a huge benefit to a squad, no matter what their class.Director and Webmistress of Faction Tramonto0 -

I have to agree aswell but I think some servers need DDs=Damage Dealers along with clerics and barbs and my server has a shortage of tanks and DDs but I dont know about what server u guys are on.Part Jamaican, Part English, Plain Awesome. Stuffff to come0 -
As others have said, playing a Barb or Cleric pretty much guarantees you a squad whenever you want, though barb can be costly (lots of HP pots to refill all the HP you have, slow grinding due to low dmg, etc) and clerics have a learning curve ^_^' and burn MP pots too.
Venos are probably the single best solo class, since they count for a tank and DD all alone (a glacial walker makes a wonderful F2P tank, and easy to catch).
the others have varied worth in and out of squads, but in general, all classes balance out somewhere.
BMs are the most versatile class, and can be build as a tank, DD, or for DPS easily, although the huge array of available skills can seem overwhelming.
Sins go squish pretty easily, but have absurd DPS (the indivitual attacks arent spectacular, but hit rate makes up for it.
Wizards also go squish, but good DD and ability to teleport away from danger help make up for this in normal PvE
Archers also do great damage, and their range makes them good in squads against AoE bosses, since they can often hit from a safe distance, but are hard to play in close quarters
I have no experience with Psy skills, so I can't advise there.MoonUsagi - Heavens Tear wrote: »Venomancer get a rival on luring mobs.MoonUsagi - Heavens Tear wrote: »Tideborn

Honestly it just depends on what you enjoy doing and how "needed" you really want to be.
Barbs are commonly needed for instances and are becoming rarer because many have started going fist which makes them virtually useless as good tanks. If you want to be a barb that squads want, go for a vit build. Barbs can be costly due to repair costs on their gear.
Clerics are ALWAYS needed. People are always looking for clerics for squads. However, it does get annoying when random people ask for buffs and res all the time. Clerics are also very squishy (low hp, high attack) and die often, however you can heal or buff yourself whenever you want which is useful in any situation. Also while clerics are mainly magic, they do have Plume Shot which is a strong spell that deals phys attack. They are the only caster class that i am aware of that has the ability to do both strong phys and mag damage, and this skill is priceless. I'm not sure if there is a shortage of clerics, but I know they are always in very high demand so no one is going to complain about there being more. Clerics are also a rather expensive class due to constant need of mp pots.
Venomancers are actually more capable of going solo than any other class. They are not necessarily "needed" in a squad, but they are always useful since they can lure or tank with pets, and have several buffs, debuffs, and other skills that are desireable. You are also free to do more things by yourself with a veno because you have your pet to tank mobs for you. The problem with venos is that once you are higher level it is generally expected that you have a baby hercules pet and a phoenix pet which are both VERY EXPENSIVE. However, as your pet is doing most of the work, you don't have to spend as much money on pots as other classes and can save up coin (or cash shop) for these pets. Venomancers have also been said to be the easiest class for beginners, but I can't really confirm that assumption.
Blademasters are useful in squads due to their ability to stun multiple monsters at once and do pretty good damage. BMs are absolutely necessary in Frost instances that you can start at level 80. BMs can be fun because they are the most versatile class and allow you to choose from several paths, therefore, there are several types of bms that are useful for different reasons. One of the best things as a bm is that they are ideal for aoe (multiple mob) grinding and leveling quickly due to their high number of aoe stuns and attacks.
Wizards are not necessarily required for any instance that I know about, but they are always useful as damage dealers (DDs) in a squad. Wizzies have the highest DPS (damage per hit) at endgame of all classes. They can die easily due to low hp, but they also have several skills to hold attackers at bay while they kill them in 1-3 shots which always makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside xP. Like the cleric, this class spends a lot of coin on mp pots.
Archers are said to be very good for pvp if you are on a pvp server. They have strong ranged attacks and usually wear light armor so they have decent phys and mag defense. Like wizards, they are really not a requirement in a squad, but are very good damage dealers.
Assassins are also mainly damage dealers in a squad, however, they are very popular in frost squads at level 80+. At high levels, assassins become the only class that is capable of soloing a frost instance. In any squad their Bloodpaint buff is always desired, but only works for melee classes. Like archers, they are a light armor class so they have decent physical and magical defense. Sins are capable of killing things very quickly due to their high speed, accuracy, and critical strike rates. I'm not sure about other servers, but on the Lost City server sins are very popular because they are very good in pvp, so there isn't going to be a shortage of them any time soon.
Psychics do rediculously high damage, but, they are very squishy and die alot. However, this is another class that if played right can kill their attackers before they can reach them. The problem with psychics are that because of their high dps, they commonly steal aggro from tanks and get killed. People usually don't look for psychics for squads, and I actually know several people who would prefer not to have them in their squads at all due to their aggro stealing and inability to take hits.
Hope this helps with your decision. Good Luck!0
