Defense lvl?

i am being told in game that defense lvl does not stack % wise with the % reduction i already get from gear is that true?

    Yes that's true.

    It's obviously true, otherwise BMs could just shard with some def level, pick a marrow and have 100% reduction of all damage at all times.

    Though, they're both capped at a point lower than 100%. I heard 95% somewhere.

    The cap of dmg reduction is 90% (tested with elemental shell wiz skill).

    Anyway, skills increases the damage reduction calculating from the gear you have.
    While def lvl increases it independently, AFTER the first reduction is calculated.

    Example:

    10000 damage incoming.
    i have 10000 pdef (alias 70% reduction) and 10 def level.

    The 10 def lvl doesnt make my reduction 70+10 = 80% (so 10000 dmg - 80% = 2000 dmg)

    It works like this:

    10000 damage - 70% = 3000 dmg
    3000 damage - 10% = 2700 dmg
    If you happy wanna be, against the wind you won't have to pee.
