Hi & thanks. This is a link to the error mssg that pops up whenever start is clicked.
http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss10/AIone_pwi/11_27_10patchererror.png
Unsure what to do. It's win7 home premium and norton internet security. exceptions are added for patcher.exe, elementclient.exe and launcher.exe; am unable to locate pwprotector.exe (or a post on it). First time installation completed today, game has no previous installtions on this pc and this current installation has not ever played on this pc. Any help appreciated.

It'll be helpful to us if you tell us some of your computer's information.
1) What is the make and model number of your computer?
2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.
3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.
4) Copy and paste the top half of your dxdiag into your forum post (that means 50% of the text). If you have Vista, please take out the (TM) (the trademark symbol) out of the text file, as the forums will cut it off and won't display the rest of the text.
If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file. This is important so that we can help you find the right software for your system.
We'll take a look at it, and offer our advice (or our super cool and helpful community might beat us to answering things for you).Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Hi, just a quick update please. does anyone else have an HP laptop with this Ati Mobility radeon 5650 1 GB dedicated graphics card in it? And if so, did you or do you have problems playing PwI with it? Submitted a ticket, but unless i've misunderstood the tech who replied... I've been told that I have to have an ati mobility 8500 2GB dedicated card or better to play this game or receive tech support, as per the games System Requirements. I'm sure I'm not the only person who plays PwI on a laptop lol and this laptop isn't that out of date. I've seen several posts in the last few days asking for help regarding strange symbols or jumbled error mssg's on the launcher, and references to DirectX mixed in with it all. Any ideas or comments? or if you have encountered this problem please post an update here. b:thanks0
-
i've been having the strange error message also. i've also tried to update my direct x but it didnt remove the message.0
-
@vak2 What ticket number?
To original poster, the error message says:
Unable to acquire video memory size info, please check DirectX version.
So there may be a conflict going on with the video drivers and DirectX. It also looks like you cut off some of the Display Device Info, please post that, or send in a ticket to us with your FULL dxdiag.txt so we can try and help you b:victoryDo you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?
