Your weapon will take damage because you are using it. However, your armor shouldn't. Repair fees usually aren't too bad and at least for me I have noticed with accessories and such that by the time they wear down to 0, it's time to upgrade anyway.

She may be getting hit every now and then and that is what wears it down. Sometimes if you run too close to an enemy you get hit before your pet steals aggro. Or you steal aggro from pet (normally if you pet is lower and you have a crit hit)

But yeah, that sounds a bit messed up if you don't take damage but it still gets worn down :/

As a Veno you don't really have to worry about repair costs. In the early days I never had to repair anything (I use what I find, no uber gear or anything bought from players) because I found something new long before the previous item broke. Staying away from "Repair All" button for that reason.

Nowadays, I rarely find anything at all (my two latest item upgrades are quest rewards...), so every now and then I have to repair my weapon, and I've even had damaged armor --- considering that my item levels are between 7 and 10 it has nonetheless been a very rare event to see a "take care of your gear" icon.
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng
