I just started to play a psy and i've some doubts about this class.

Better elemental necklaces or physical necklaces?

I'm going pure mag because i prefer high damage but it would be better add +1 dex every level and 3mag instead 4 or the difference in damage between 3 and 4mag at endgame is significant?

About soulburn i read this 'Every time the target attacks, it takes damage equals to your Soulforce.' but it works in this way against players too? i mean if you have 10k soulforce player gets 10k or only for mobs?

Thank you

    1] Physical necklaces.

2] What is your reasoning for adding Dex? Psychics, or any mage for that matter, does not need Dex for anything aside from increasing their Critical Hit Rate. Which, 20 Dex = 1% crit, meaning you won't get a significant/noticeable increase unless you have more. Having more will ultimately decrease your Magic Attack quite a bit.
Also, at lvl 100, 3 Magic per level = 300. 4 Magic per level = 400. That is a significant difference.

3] It isn't crystal clear if Soulforce negates defenses. I'll save this one for the Psychics who tested it out to chime in on this one. From what I've read, it varies.

yes, the reason for add dex was the critical rate.

A question about spirit points... are they a problem in this class too? i mean i see psy don't have so many skills like other clases

And i was watching the skills in http://www.ecatomb.net/pwi/skillpwi.php and soul of stunning only increases the mana when lvl up... it's right or it's a mistake?

+% crit is better to get from equips. The 100 mag you lose for 5% crit aren't worth it.

If you'll always have enough money to upgrade skills, spirit might be a problem until later, when money gets the upper hand.

Neither Soul of Stunning nor Soul of Vengeance gets any better when upgraded, only reason to upgrade them is for Sage/Demon versions. No idea if it was intended, but it's how it got implemented.
Once upon a time I was stuck in Hall of Deception.
The Devs felt sorry for me having to smash lowbies all day, so they decided to promote me.
    I then rerolled a Psychic.

    About Soulburn:

The damage DOES take resistances into effect (for example, I usually hit ~2k per hit on arcane classes, but usually less than 1k on heavy armor classes), and it also suffers from the 75% PvP damage reduction.

So basically, in PvP, your soulburn with 10k soulforce will do around 2.5k minus physical damage reduction.

And everyone's saying that "attacking a Psy while in Soulbourn is commiting suicide". How the hell is that suicide if it hits for few k only?

Most people only have 4-5k. So they just 2 shotted themselves. b:avoid

note that 3k is for HA users. since it's physical damage a low (4-5k) hp AA will probably get one-shotted

I thought we had put out that only Red Tide's bleed counted as Physical damage, and we were all still trying to figure out if Soulburn was physical or not? .-.

Well considering what I posted, I say it's pretty safe to say that Soulburn is also Physical damage. (Some of us go and test things on our own. I've personally known this since level 5x)

And I believe that the reflected damage from SoR is based on the type of attack that was used to break it. For example, I usually hit mobs for around 2.5k+ when I decide to have it on, but when a mag resist mob hits it with a magic attack, it lowers down to like 700.

Still not 100% on SoV reflection, but I want to say it's physical.

    Soulburn is not physical.

Try to cast soulburn while a 5aps hits you...it will be like...15k per second of soulburn? hehehehe

But i think he is not dumb enought to keep hitting you...

Another question... at lvl 59 you have to choose between earth vector and psychic will? which one is preferable to take?

may i suggest hovering over the skill button and reading the skill description? b:avoid

    *stops trolling*
i think that they recently addded that it's physical.
    it's on ecatomb too.

    about soulburn:
dmg in increased magic res mobs = dmg in normal mobs > dmg in increased defense mobs
also the dmg != my soulforce.

i dont think that I would want more info to say that it's psysical dmg, decreased by the target's pdef.

no,no, you can take both. it would be the hardest decision if you could take only one (i think i would get earth vector though)

    I would pick Torrent.

It's by far better than both of those skills combined.

What's better... buy an armor with for example 300 resistance in all elements or 600 in 2 or 3 elements?

When I was below lvl 90 I never bought gear from the AH that had some ele res missing from it,Its not really worth it in my opinion. Just a tip btw,Always scan the AH for legendary gear thats around your lvl.(Dont really worry about getting nice legend gear until like lvl 70-79) Why? Because u can rock the lvl 70 set until lvl 90 then switch to TT or whatever suits you;) Hopefully that helped;)

The only real problem with that, is that I've noticed 9 out of 10 times, if a piece of equipment is missing an element, it's either earth or metal. Meaning that while your other elemental defenses might be good (for example maybe 6k), your earth defense will fall far behind (probably close to around 3k-4k). This means that Earth mobs will hit you like almost physical damage, and you'll get owned by wizzies and other psys.

Just a personal experience from a guy who wore a 3* 70 top missing earth res until level 90. b:surrender

the mob has defenses so the dmg is reduced.
just like any of your skills: in theory the dmg you should do is
basic magic attack + X% weapon damage + Y elemental damage
but you dont cause it's reduced by the mob's defenses

it's just that the formula is too complex and involves random numbers so.. xd

    and about elemental res:
1)if you fight a mob/boss with a certain elemental attack it's better to have higher res in that element. *points at clerics with wood armors*
2)by compining pieces with missing resistances you can get higher pdef/mdef but it's tricky.

for example, when i tanked 59 i had different pieces for each boss. well, not 5x sets, more like 2-3x sets. or when i was 4x i had some sleeves with 2 res but a really nice pdef boost (3x pdef stats and the natural pdef was higher). you could say that i was LA with AA xD

Another question. When a mob atacks me with physical attacks it hits me arround 300dmg but when mobs attack me with magical attacks they hit me arround 300dmg too... and i've 400 phys def and 2400 def on elements... why i get the same damage? I though i'd could be more resistant against magic attacks

well that shouldnt happen. same level mob? do u have black voodoo on? are u sure it's a physical attack or magical? some mobs have attacks that look magical but they are not

Yes i've black voodoo on but i've it for both attacks so... for example with terrestrial foxwing they are fire type and they throw like fire balls that deals me arround 300 and if they attack me with physical attack deals me ~320
