PETS: DD vs Tank || Best Flying Pet

I would like to say that....people who are obsessed with this game and try to get the best out of everything will definitely have both Legendary Pets and will be part of a high level faction. Obsessed is not the exact word I want to use but I hope you understand my point.
Those who play for fun, those who just try to meet the common expectations (such as having T90 set at lvl 90) because they don't have time/will to invest so much in this game will not bother or even care to get into those factions. Not to mention that they're probably happy with their current one among their friends and people they know. Some of them don't even care for TWs, like myself.
So bringing the argument of how Venomancers need the Legendary Pets in order to get into the said faction is pointless. I do believe that some of them are dreaming and wish they had those pets and be part of those factions but this doesn't apply to everyone.
..and please don't bring the argument of "yeah but you're useless in squads".[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

*sighs* Lets try this from the top... if you are not going to get a Leg., then you will not be getting rid of your non-Leg. pets! You will be.. *gasp* keeping them!MystiMonk wrote:I am not child as bought my Leg. with real money.I don't need to look up those exact words and where do you get off calling one this as you can't do it yourself.Don't try and be so smart as I am a lot older than you are and been out of school a lot longer.
I am helpless before the cutting power of your logic and wit. You have entirely dismembered my arguments with that intelligent piece of thinking.
*note* Before patting yourself on the back too much, you may wish to look up the word "sarcasm."MystiMonk wrote:This is another reason FactionLook at what it says about Venos
Do you really think every veno cares what your faction wants? If you want to get into that faction you'll get a herc, because that's what the faction requires. The rest of us will play how we enjoy playing.0 -
Lets attempt the difficult feat of applying logic to this situation. If you don't have and don't plan on getting a Leg. pet, then your non-Leg. pets will be your endgame pets. Now... I'm going to take a leap of faith and assume we can all agree that one prefers one's endgame gear to be as functional as possible. This would mean... take a deep breath and get ready for it... upgrading the skills on your non-Leg. pets.
I really don't feel like indulging in this childish level of argumentation, but I'm going to quote from one of your previous posts: "you don't treat your Veno right by denying her the privilege of owning a Leg." Now, you may attempt to spin that any way you like, but its quite clear you are saying that a veno who doesn't get a Leg. is doing something wrong. If you can't see it, try this; get a dictionary, look up the meaning of each word you used, and then examine the meaning that would ensue from using these words together as you did in the text I quoted.
THIS. This is where the argument should have ended or at least moved on a different direction. Unfortunately, logic and reason are no longer important for posters like Mysti, they will ignore even evidence and solid proof...
It's become about pride and flaming for them. Tweakz, while he was still able to write coherent posts, took it upon himself to play Supernanny, and attempted to "save" the forums from my "corrupting" influence. We all know how that ended...
http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/155248/cartman-vs-super-nanny
They seem to continue posting to no other purpose but baiting posters into flame wars and have even attempted to drag posters well known for their balanced and polite views into the argument. I really no longer think debate with them is posible at all. They're just interested to pass off opinions they have become vested in as well established fact.0 -

I'm really curious to see how many different ways you can find to say "get a herc" after its been established whether or not to get a herc isn't the question of this thread.MystiMonk wrote:What ever you are happy with and enjoy it then keep it./end of debate
There, that wasn't so hard, now was it? Of course, there wouldn't have been a debate in the first place if you'd recognized that earlier and not tried to stick your "get a herc" agenda into a thread entirely unrelated to the herc subject.MystiMonk wrote:more people should read stickies.
More people should try to discuss the subject of the thread instead of assuming every thread is a pulpit to preach that herc = the only true way to heaven and a happy life.0 -

I just wish you can read the word preferred on Legendary's website. Plus, getting in to a good faction is just a matter of knowing people in it. There's this thing called connections. ijs.
Plus if you know how to solo TT or meet people who are willing to do TT with you, why bother with what other people care? b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Ok every single pet thread gets derailed. There's no sense in this.
Btw, why are we talking about land pets when the OP asked about FLYING PETS?
I would expect this thread to be about comparing free fly pets with a nix, if you wanna throw in legendary pets.
I dont have a nix, and right now, i don't care to get one. feathers are 9k+ on sanctuary atm, and there are far more important things to me than that pet. Yes, I have a herc, but that's completely OFF TOPIC.
On topic: For flying pets, I prefer a DD pet over tank (i hated the piggy, will it's def was decent, it's damage sucked badly.) I prefer to kill quickly in air, especially since im usually the one tanking the mobs. A flying DD pet will help kill faster, but a tank one wont.>.<0 -

Re: flying pets. I don't have any experience with "air tanks" as all I've used is a Sawfly and a Skatefish (basically same stats as Sawfly, I just think its a bit prettier ). I'm very happy with the Skatefish - it is rather squishy, but it does excellent damage, which means I can take out those annoying flying mobs as quickly as possible.0

b:lipcurl Personally i just pick up whatever air pet is close to my level whenever i need one. My plan is to eventually get a Nix although if i give up i would choose one of these two;
Cloud Skatefish; Comes with two cool elemental bashes (Fireball and Icicle) it near matches the dps of a Petite Sawfly BUT it seems to be a bit more ressilient. What's not to like? Add Ream and Threaten to the mix and you've got one wicked endgame pet that also looks especially good if you're using a skymanta aero. None of the annoyance of the fly and that's a big plus.
Cloudwalking Piggy; Adds the situational awareness of a cute rare and is good enough to use as a land tank on the open world. The low dps is not that big an issue if you're PvE oriented as you'll have the only air pet (other than Nix) that can actually take a beating. It already comes with Howl and Bash so i would recommend to swap out Boost for an elemental Bash and perhaps Tough for Ream, while it will never make for a good PvP pet it doesn't hurt to have the option... For pure PvE you can go straight tanking skills (i recommend Bash, Roar, Threaten, Tough) or mix it up a bit. Shriek i consider an excellent option for air pets in general so you could consider that.
I think i like the Skatefish a little better myself.0 -

As stated, prefer doesn't mean absolutely required. I don't think most TW factions care about the yellow blob when there's a 5aps BM (or high DDs) tanking the whole TT. They care more about the venos doing their job as debuffers. Meaning, using amplify damage, ironwood and purge when needed.Re: flying pets. Windwalking Piggy is such a cute pet to fight with but its dps just makes it unappealing to me. From experience, it's easy to pull from it. Also it's a pain to level, again because of its low attack. But I do enjoy using it as a gimmick pet. Mine's still lv. 6x b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

b:embarrass I got the name wrong, thank you for the correction. b:thanks
Aggro is not really that big an issue for a reskilled pet however. I can comfortably go all out nuking even on lower level BH mobs if my Tabby fires all four skills (Ream, Howl, Threaten, Bash). With two up to level Bashes you should be able to hold aggro comfortably IMO.0 -

The thing is, I'm a pure magic veno. Even with my Kowlin using bash and flesh ream, I still pull aggro right away (or even with my herc). That happens a lot even if I wait for a bit. But normally, I just want to get it done. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I myself use an 8 mag build but have some rather decent rings/wep for my level. And i do make up half the stat point difference to pure on gear...
Four skills going works for me under various circumstances even if two are just debuffs. The skill set i suggested (it would be two Bashes, Ream and Howl, everything up to level) i think should be enough to cover even a pure mag build. Even if you were sparking, that would have to be quite a beastly dps output to easily overwhelm 7 maxed skills hitting in around 12 secs...0 -

Adding to being pure mag, my current channeling (-39% I want more b:surrender) makes it hard for my pets to take aggro back from me even if they spam their skills. I can't attack the same time as them and have to let them do their aggro building first.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

you have a very odd way of thinking, to my mind.
my PW chars have no separate existence from me; i don't treat them at all, rightly or wrongly --- they are all about me, about my entertainment when i'm playing the game. and veno pets are weapons --- so long as i can kill quite a few mobs with my pet alone, what else is that pet but my weapon? venomancers aren't even unique in being able to cash-shop weapons --- lunar weapon insignia from packs, keep in mind.
(dunno if pack-buying in the hopes of one of those would come out to more or less on average than a legendary pet, though. it'd surely be less than a warsoul, however --- and any class can cash-shop up such a weapon.)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -

Sawfly is crazy fast, and has more Atk than Herc of the same level. (or so i hear)
i do better taking agro from afar, and letting him eat the mob b4 it gets to me xD0 -

um, anything can take out a lv 20 mob... if you're ~level 20 or above. a lv1 plume could- but it'd take more hits than lv 4 plume- which you should have at lv 20. Knowing you, it's very possible you have lv 1 plume and are a "full support" cleric. b:chuckle0 -
