Been thinking about ditching Bless on my nix for awhile now. Just want to know if anyother venos have done this, and what your opinion's are. My main reason for considering it is that in pvp the little amount of hp does little, and the extra damage possibility sounds really nice(mostly for pvp).

Although the damage increase is good for the nix, imo it's not worth it to remove bless because most people you try to PK with will try to kill your nix before you. Imo nix bleed does the most damage compared to the nix itself.

Pounce and Ream are likely the best a Nix brings to PvP. Howl is great for PvE but i really couldn't tell you how well it works for PvP. My best guess is this isn't likely to make that much of a difference. My advice would be this, given the value of Blessing you should try experimenting how well Howl works on an ordinary pet first. Same level Howl will do exactly the same thing regardless of which pet is using it and this should allow you to gauge whether the damage increase you can get is actually worth loosing the extra hp on your legendary pet.

Ya to clarify i my nix would have, lvl 2 pounce, lvl 5 claw, lvl 5 bleed, and lvl 5 howl

MANray's suggestion is the best solution as Howl is not based on the pet's attack.

I'm not sure what to say. I have never used a Phoenix nor have I tried PK/TW/PvP (not my type) but I know that most players have good defences and that is the main difference between PvP and PvE. Bosses, mobs, elites have low defence to begin with and when you apply Howl it becomes so low that you manage to deal some great damage (combine it with Amplify Damage and/or Extreme Posion and you see insane numbers) but as you level up even HA users have high refined ornaments that allows them to have a good magic defence, not to mention various apothecary pots, genie skills, their own skills they can use to prevent you from attacking or preventing themselves from being hit.
In that case, removing Blessing could be a great loss.

But again, I'm saying that I have no real experience with this. It's just a theory and words I've heard from other PvP players and guides so I really recommend you to do what MANray suggested. If you don't have a pet that has howl or don't want to invest into it (though I doubt that's how things are) you could always tame a pet of your level range which has Howl. The Ninetail Firefox comes with Howl lvl 4 and is lvl 85 (close to yours).

You will regret taking bless off your nix, guaranteed. at lvl 100 its more that 1000 extra HP.

if you want howl on a flying pet, put it on a pig.

nixes are pretty much perfect the way they are, howl isnt going to help you enough to make it worth it to make your nix squishier. really, get the idea out of your head. if you change your mind and want bless back later, its gonna cost you 50M. If you want to reduce magic defense in PVP you already have (or should go get right now) 2 versions of myriad rainbow. each one has a roughy 20% chance to hit. And is far far more effective.

again, take this idea out of your head, for your own good.

Let's all ignore the matk/ weapon+refine of the OP, the fact that a Nix can still be one shot in PvP even with Blessing, and the typical victim expecting Ream. In PvE, the Herc is almost always better for tanking.

The naysayers are of the same ones that argue for Tabby Plumdrops for DPS and downplay hercs. Where's their argument for variety here?

Venos should eventually way out DPS their Nix. Many venos promote debuffing before killing as well, while some of us kill before others would be done debuffing.

It might be worth trying, but I'd make sure it's what you really want before replacing a rare skill with it. Most Nixs have a non rare spot to fill.

Ya I'm going to try howl on a sawfly. I need a back up pvp pet anyway, so this will give me an insentive to lvl it. Main reason I'm thinking about it is because I'm HA so was thinking the debuff would help take someone down.

Please stop making wrong characterizations of posters, the only one arguing for Tabby Plumdrop on this forum is me, and then usually only for myself. If you read my posts you'll realize the pet i recommend the most is the Dark Wanderer, Tabby i only suggest when i believe it to be the best match for the characteristics a particular poster asks for, and even then it usually is one amongst a handful of choices i'll offer.

And if you actually take the time to read my post you'll realize i wasn't naysaying, but merely suggested the OP experiment before attempting this. This is not an issue of pet diversity and those posters who suggested not to swap these skills actually offered sound reasons. They're likely right. Please refrain from muddling the issue with your own agenda.
