I posted this in the suggestion forums, but since no one ever goes there, not even gms, I thought I'd post it here.
Since we all know TW is dead, here's a suggestion with a 99.999% chance of being ignored. Since the game seems to love chance stuff, every weekend after the faction bids are done with, each unattacked territory has an X% chance of being attacked by mobs.
So say, there's one TW going on. That basically leaves, the other, like 50 or whatever territories being completely useless and not doing anything. So say each territory gets rolled into a system separately, and each one has a say, 10% chance of being attacked by mobs. Or maybe 20% or whatever. Sure, for a faction with a few territories, it's nothing. But for what most of the servers have going on now, it'll be a big deal. It basically prevents a faction from owning too much of the land. If a faction holds 20 territories, with say, a 20% mob attack chance, they're going to have about 4 mob attacks. Since they're mobs, it probably won't merit a whole lot of people to defend, but the 20 people per territory means 80 less available people to defend from other faction attacks. It'll all add up and pretty much prevents any one faction from holding the map. We're going to be looking at at least three main factions on the map with probably a few smaller ones. It'll also bring in some mob controlled territory which can help control inflation due to the fact that that territory generates nothing.
Mob attacks can be scaled too. Lv 1 territories get attacked by like level 110 mobs or something with say, 3 ? bosses with like a 2 hour time limit to kill all mobs or something. Lv 2 can be easier, and Lv 3 attacks even easier. Or they can also be scaled to the amount of territories the defending faction owns (although thats probably too much coding for you guys).
But most importantly, this'll spice up TW and probably keep around some of your big cash shoppers around for a few more months. We'll be looking at a couple hundred thousand in revenue for you guys. We all know how much that's what you're really interested in.

I think it is a good suggestion
There have been a lot of good suggestions tho LOL
This topic has been discussed ad nauseum and we should probably just let it rest, and see what changes the Devs come up with, if any

This wouldn't affect TW because that's fri-sun. These attacks should occur between mon-thur.

You do know that 8 people 8x-9x has already prepack gears has already done a PVE TW in under 1 hour? Top guilds now could sent 3 people and be done in 20 minutes.0

For a level 3 land perhaps. That one boss in the level 2 land would be impossible for 8 people to do in 20 min.
Still, I think it would be fun all of a sudden on Monday morning a system message says "Land of Buried Bones is being attacked by NPCs, gather your guild and defend your land NOW"....I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
I like this idea. Didn't one of the level 2 land bosses have a small chance at dropping a nix/herc ticket at one point? I seem to recall that from my early, early days on HL.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

It would be fun, but I don't think it solves the real problems with TW.
Pack gear, Ocean Orb sales, Jones Blessings, and so forth have made all PvP in the game hopelessly imbalanced and have made it difficult or impossible for many people to compete at a high level. That's driving a lot of people out of TW and out of the game. Fighting mobs doesn't really fix that.
TW is expensive and has no significant rewards. Fighting mobs would just add another expense and still has minimal or no reward.
Reviving TW is easy. Just go back to the way it was before. Before they broke it. That wouldn't fix the imbalances, but it at least helps with one problem, and it would clearly be an improvement. Your change is interesting but IMHO is more different than better.0 -
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea; having random mob attacks on faction-owned territories is actually something players have suggested for some time now.
However, it's still a duplicate thread, which means it's got to be closed.
