Kaste - Sanctuary

Alright guys, I'd like to invite you all to a DUEL-TOURNAMENT.

Basically best out of 3 can proceed. I have chosen that because that there won't be excuses, if you fail the first time, you still have a chance.

Level range will be as followed:

-18
19-28
29-38
39-48
49-58
59-68
69-78
79-88
89-98
99+

- For every level category there can be a winner.
- It will be at the weekend around midday server time (not set yet).
- There will be no fee, but also no reward
- It will be recorded and uploaded on YouTube.
- You are allowed to participate with more then 1 character.

You may register via in game mail, pm or just comment on this thread. Class and level needed.
Note: You should update your level, in case you level into another category.

You might want to keep 99+ a separate group from the other 90 ranges. TT99 and Nirvana gear for level 100's is a massive gear upgrade which would be a significant advantage over players below level 99. Just a suggestion. It's probably not so bad to keep level intervals like 70-79, 80-89, 90-98, and 99+. The major thing to consider when creating your groups is what gear is made available. A level 89 player in the tier you currently have them assigned would be rather disadvantaged against anyone 90+ who has their tt90 gear.

But if you make like 70-79 / 80-89, it will be unfair because of culti level. a 80 BM doesn't stand a chance against a 89 demon BM.

The culti doesn't make that much of a deal if you ask me. The skills or the spark are not tremendous advantages compared to the gear.

I sometimes still wish I was under 90 when I do tourney . Too many insane OP gears running around at end-game b:cry

Joke. Not a bad idea, but i guess it is fair let people use their gear, as the gear is just one of many factors that influence a victory or a fail.

By the way now mentioning it, NO GENIES xD. I want some good o' classic duels, not those cheap "my bramble rage 1 hitted you" duels .

Well...there would be less people who would complain like "Ya only won 'cause ya have the better gear" if ya force 'em to use NPC gear^^

There will be 3 fights each. There is no complaining, the better wins and proceeds Kinda like survival of the fittest PW style ^^.

Genie skills kinda have to be used in duels with sins that stealth during the countdown.

I think if you're gonna do a Tourny thing like this you shouldn't just say NO genies, genies are PART of the gear for any character, that level 10 bramble rage thing, is a one shot thing. If you have anything to counter it, like I dunno a spark? Or your own genie skills then it gets canceled out. Personally the only thing that would get me to actually waste charm on this, is if I could use my genie for it (don't have bramble rage anyways, but w/t :P). But Holypath is probably the most useful skill in a duel for an archer, we need range, we need to keep range, otherwise we go splat, PS will the duels be fought with full, even buffs, or just your own buffs. And what about dueling clerics or whatever. (Who I think will win the dueling tourny) Also are we allowed to use MP potions in the duel, what about healing is that allowed? Or apo stuff.

Well you got some good points, but still, having a good genie with uber skills that 1 hit people is not real challenge to me. I mean I easily could 1 hit most AA user with my TE, which also gives me a anti-mag shield just in case the wouldn't be completely owned by that. On the other hand EP + BR would own my *** xD. But imo genies are nice to have as lifesaver in PvE and a quick end to enemies in open PvP/TW, but it makes duels boring as it is just about who presses 1 button first. So my suggestion for rules would be:

-No Genies
-No Hp pots
-No apocs

-MP pots allowed

About archers needing distance, every squishy class needs distance to other classes (they aren't but you know what i mean) so allowing HP in duels would make it impossible for melee classes to actually get anywhere, even if HPing themselves.

About buffs, we'll make a party of people giving the following buffs:
Cleric
Barb
BM
Archer
Selfbuffs are allowed.

All heal skills by your class are allowed to be used, as it is a part of your skills. (same with BM, barb etc.)
Clerics actually are good in duels when used properly ^^

the issue with genies is

the mag 1 shot genis can only be used on the ground so all a HA class has to do is get on their flyer and go up 10 feet

the issue is that w/o genis caster classes will have a massive advantage simply by flying up

without factors such as flying or genis or healing it becomes a contest of "who has spent more" since you cant do much other than pop an antistun and try to kill then 1st

If you're going to have genie, apoc, and hp pots, might as well go for broke and just enter PK.

Clerics won't necessarily win a dueling tourney. IMO a fully chi'd wizard will...provided people get full chi every fight.

And yes, it will be announced who will be fighting next, so you can get chi'd up. Also there will be a buff squad.

As if all contestants would be fist BMs xD I myself like challenging myself using axes instead of fists in duels. Also, there will be level restrictions and there will be multiple winners to the contest. Also, the winner will get no reward at all, it is purely for fun . Also this is some kind of a test event, "Beta" if you want so. On what we learn by doing it, we can change the rules next time.

Just give up, you'll never make a balanced ruleset.

And if it's only based on level, then that's also going to cause problems, because of most classes' 59 skills, 79 skills, 89 skills.

And you'll also end up banning a lot of class skills:
BM: Shadowless Kick and Cyclone Heel
Wizard: Essential Sutra
Archer: Quickshot and Awaken
Cleric: Seals
Barbarian: Armageddon and Invoke
Venomancer: Purge and Amplify Damage
Assassin: Stealth, Deaden Nerves, Shadow Teleport and Blood Frenzy
Psychic: Psychic Will, Soulburn

All of these skills would imbalance the duel settings too much.
