Sacrifice Damage?

I have just recently returned to the game, and had recently obtained a Sacrifice Scroll. Before I knew someone who had it on their Phoenix and was able to 1 shot me with this skill. ( Before Anni Packs )

Now, When I had tested it on my Phoenix against a friends archer, my Skill did abysmal damage. So now I'm curious how before it use to be able to one shot me, and now does less damage then my Shadou cub.
