well today i was trying to deicde what 79 skills to get and well 2 faction members told me that dragon bane was useless!!! the 2 faction members are SplinterCell and Silver_Neob:pleased they told me what an awful skill this is! please dicuss!b:thanks

The idea of Dragon Bane is that it decreases your physical attack while boosting your crit rate to compensate. It actually does this by way of a buff (the crit increase) and a debuff (decrease physical attack).

The key to using this skill is to know that debuffs can be purged. Therefore, if you communicate with your cleric before fighting a boss, you can set it up so the cleric purifies you right after you cast Dragon Bane - thus you no longer suffer physical attack reduction and still gain the 25% crit increase.

I have not used this skill myself, but I plan to get it on my BM for aggro purposes. :P

Tell that to your fac mates and see what they think.

Fist_Mama is not new to the BM forum and this have been answered on there. Want a "useful" response? Bane only takes off -0.5 multiple off your damage multiplier so even without purify, it's still beneficial since it doesn't directly cuts your damage by half. The -0.5 multiplier pretty much cancels out your weapon mastery while giving you 25% crit if you can't get it purified.

nope im not knew my whole post was sarcastic i tried to tell them before posting this thread that the best combo is dragon bane>triple spark>????

pretty much, yes. It will give you some additional damage. I can't find the darn DPS-calc, else i could tell it exactly.

Without knowing someone's attack rate, crit % or patk, you can't determine how much addtitional damage would be done. 25% increase in crit for 30 seconds is substantial.

Posting their opinions of a skill doesn't really sound much like violating a rule.

while i do agree to this the 15second effect time and 10 min cool down isnt really worth it imo like yea its op but to only be able to use it every 10 mins makes it more of a waste of space :x and coins

and of course then their is flash....the skill u use when ur about to die ;P how op is that LOL b:chuckle

tbh i would rather have and use all 3 79 skills they r cheaper more effective and more useful imo

im getting all 3 eventually i was asking my guild which i should get first and then those 2 iliterate bastrds informed me on what an awful skill it is and i qoute there saying "fist mama be a stupid ppl" "ya she be a very stupid ppl". "all bms who use this skill are fails" "yup its a stupid skill waste of spirit". the worest part was at 1 point they said its a buff where the debuff dosnt show up and which is the reason why it cant be purified. they allso went on to tell me it cost 2 sparks at which point i stop trying to argue with them.

ArchSaber - Sanctuary

Demon Glacial Spike crit buff is cancel-able so it's better then Dragons Bane, but DB + 3spark is still pretty amazing. Endgame 50% crit is win.

but 25% crit =/= 25% damage. It just raises damage for something.

If you spark, say what kind of spark(normal/advanced/demon/sage), if not then put no spark

Just use the format, here's an example provided i did the math right

Spark: None
X : 3200
Y : 1.82
Z : 12%
DPS: 6522 aprox
Wep: Buddha Fists +5

So by changing this formula to this, it will show damage with Dragon Bane PURIFIED:

Spark: None
X : 3200
Y : 1.82
Z : 37%
DPS: 7978 aprox
Wep: Buddha Fists +5

That is 7978 - 6522 = 1456 DPS gain = 22%

So to get your DPS insert your data in there.

Of course that is just more or less exact. I will be back after i calculated DPS with debuff, xD

((max damage + min damage)/2)*APS*(1+crit%/100)=DPS.

If your base crit % is zero, 25% crit will increase your DPS by 25%, statistically speaking. Since everyone starts with some natural crit %, the DPS increase will be somewhat less than 25%. Just compare the two results after adding 25% crit to your original DPS equation.

if you current crit rate is like 20% (1.2) and you get 25% crit with that buff so a total of 45% (1.45) is safe to say that your increase in dps is 1.45/1.20 = 1.208 so about 20.8% more dps

So here is a possible solution. I am not sure if this is how it works, as the skill description is not clearly.

If it is base weapon damage:

Dragon Bane PURIFIED:

Spark: None
X : 3200
Y : 1.82
Z : 37%
DPS: 7978 aprox
Wep: Buddha Fists +5

That is 7978 - 6522 = 1456 DPS gain = 22%

Adding in the base attack of Buddha fists +5 (525-572) 548/2 = 274
so changes X to 2926.

So makes Dragon Bane UNPURIFIED:

Spark: None
X : 2926
Y : 1.82
Z : 37%
DPS: 7295 aprox
Wep: Buddha Fists +5

That is 7295 - 6522 = 773 DPS gain = 11%



So if my calculations are right (I hope so), your damage increases by ~22% when you purify yourself after using Dragon Bane, and increases by ~11% if you don't. So either way if you purify or not, it gives you a little damage bonus.

All 3 79 skills are very useful.

I would get Smack first... it has a range of 18m and seals for 3 seconds. Very situational skill that can be used badly, but it's definitely one of your more important skills. Learn how to use it well.

Dragon Bane, for obvious added damage.

Bolt of Tyreseus... another amazing skill, but highly situational. It will freeze you in place, so you kind of need to know how to use it... red sprint > bolt = great for tw as it slows casting channeling down as well. It's also your widest AoE with a 12m range. It's also fun to triple spark > bolt for the lulz.

(with full chi you need to triple spark and then use a skill like marrow for chi before hitting bolt... yes, I had to state this cause I know some idiot would come point that out... *sigh*)

But you won't have enough chi to use bolt after you tripp--oh wait.

Anyway, I think it's pretty much answered so I'll just state the obvious again.
Dragon Bane is useful and increases your DPS if you purify it of DON'T purify it.
Smack is a sexy, sexy, sexy skill. Love pissing people off in TW with it.
Bolt I don't use personally, mostly because I don't have it and it is highly, highly, highly situational. But I can definitely see it's uses in TW.
