Guess what, that likely has to do with PC manufacturers selling a buggy operating system (especially the 64 bit versions) on lower end machines that have trouble handling it. Maybe your ire should be directed at them instead of people advocating to stick to XP if they can find a machine with it. You just pretty much validated exactly what was iterated as to why to avoid 7 and Vista.

I've had 64 bit Windows on the machines I have Windows on ever since the 64 bit XP came out, there is nothing wrong with that

As much as I don't particularly like Windows I will defend them on the fact that it isn't that buggy, it may not be that efficient in handling things and reak of relics from the DOS Era, but it gets the job done

Something tells me you are really the one that has absolutely no idea what in the hell you are talking about.

Very few people ever used that version of XP if you knew so much you'd have mentioned that...

    Software compatibility with Vista:

That is mostly because of the fact they changed how Vista handles drivers but most still work if you tinker with it
Windows 7 has compatibility issues too:

I will admit there are going to be slight differences which may cause issues, but most of them are incredibly minor and can be easily fixed

I would suggest a desktop over laptop for playing games on as you can get better vid card for them.It was never the intent on laptop being made for gaming light gaming yes but not heavy gaming.I would suggest however if you want to stick to laptops get decent one with good processor and a good vid card.I would get an intel i7,i5 or centrino and either a good nvidea or ati card.

I would stick with these 3 manufactures Asus being no 1 Acer being no 2 and Toshiba and don't go to cheap you should expect it to being around $1000.00.

When it comes to OSes I recommend Win 7 or if you can get it XP try staying away from Vista as it is the ME edition of Win 7.

Looking at what you posted don't but a name brand PC build it yourself or get PC store that builds them. This is desktops.I would stay way from those laptops get good a one.

This is what would be good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220827
Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

Wow, why would someone comment like this?

If you don't think it's appropriate, report it and ignore it. OP asked for help and we offered him some.

Real question is why start this topic in Game Discussion when it's an off-topic computer build topic. It is now where it belongs. See mods actually know what they're doing.

I did not feel the treachery or inconstancy of a friend, nor the injuries of a secret or open enemy. I had no occasion of bribing, flattering, or pimping, to procure the favour of any great man, or of his minion; I wanted no fence against fraud or oppression: here was neither physician to destroy my body, nor lawyer to ruin my fortune; no informer to watch my words and actions, or forge accusations against me for hire: here were no gibers, censurers, backbiters, pickpockets, highwaymen, housebreakers, attorneys, bawds, buffoons, gamesters, politicians, wits, splenetics, tedious talkers, controvertists, ravishers, murderers, robbers, virtuosos; no leaders, or followers, of party and faction; no encouragers to vice, by seducement or examples; no dungeon, axes, gibbets, whipping-posts, or pillories; no cheating shopkeepers or mechanics; no pride, vanity, or affectation; no fops, bullies, drunkards, strolling prostitutes, or poxes; no ranting, lewd, expensive wives; no stupid, proud pedants; no importunate, overbearing, quarrelsome, noisy, roaring, empty, conceited, swearing companions; no scoundrels raised from the dust upon the merit of their vices, or nobility thrown into it on account of their virtues; no lords, fiddlers, judges, or dancing-masters.

Acer's a good brand, but I have to admit custom builds are better.
