On negative posting

I would like to speak on the issue of players posting to no other seeming purpose than to hate on the game. The best example is probably "the game is dead" threads which seem to have become something of a sport amongst a certain crowd, most of them lurkers jumping on the oportunity to deliver a one liner demonstrating their negative attitude and trying to come off as forum "bad boys". Then, there is "game is dead anyway" as part of an argument, and other similar lines in which one can only come to the conclusion the posters have no other purpose but to discourage others from further involvement with PW.

Now, while i can certainly understand the need for constructive criticism, i've come to believe the cumulative effect of such responses has become disastrous. Said negatives attitudes may discourage new players from joining in and make the environment somewhat more gloomy for those of us comitted to continue playing. They encourage trolling and flaming, and also they interfere with our discussions of other issues. Why would anyone who's an active player, and has a vested interest in keeping the game healthy and alive, continue to engage in such behaviour is beyond me. But it reamins clear to me this individuals have become a destructive element in the comunity.

The game is not dead, there are still newbies in starter areas and we haven't had any notice of server merges. And while there is a case to be made for its decline, further speeding it along in such a way is selfish and inconsiderate to other players. If you no longer enjoy your time on this game, if indeed you believe the game to be dead, please leave in dignity. No one says you can't take your time saying goodbye, or that you can't return every once in a while for an instance run or some PvP. But there is no decency in ruining things for the rest of us. If you feel you need to say your piece before you move along, just go ahead and be done with it. Indulging in cowardly and vindictive posting is one of the reasons for the hostility we now see in our forums.

No doubt some will question the timing for such a post, it is long overdue in my opinion and we might as well take advantage of current adjustments to wipe the slate clean and try to start over as a comunity in some aspects. Others will consider this to be flamebait, allow me to disabuse you from this idea. This is a fire and forget kind of thing for me, i will not be posting on this thread. You're all welcome to voice your opinions of course, but since i will not be even reading any of the responses this may receive, there really is no point in addressing me. Already the last post i made resulted in some not so subtle attempt at baiting from a suposedly banned poster, and i have no intention to see another thread go down in flames, if this one does it will not be my doing...

Just wanted to pass this along, now i'm done with it.

Is all I care to say about the volatile combination of this thread topic and the thread starter

Though honestly I would have just preferred no one reply to this thread and stick to the one already made, started by Miugre.
