I am a great fan of melee, and i mostly play melee classes in most mmos.

I am currently leveling an assasin and a blademaster and i am planning on leveling a barbarian. But it seems i overlooked one other juicy class... The venomancer.
At first glance, i thought that it was a hunter/warlock mix. But then i started hearing about this fox form and that you can actually melee with the venomancer.
Did i misunderstand something?

I would like to know more about this fox form. Is the fox form just something you slip into here and there for certain situations, or something you can use more permanently and is it worth it.

I have been looking for a good beginners guide for a fox/venomancer, but could not realy find any, or am i just a moron. Does anyone know a good fox/venomancer guide, i am still searching for one.

I haven't played feral druid, but fox form is pretty flexible. My favorite class is venomancer because of that. ^^ Most people tend to stay in human form and use the magic spells, switching into fox form to use a few useful skills. But with the -interval equipment available now, some people choose to go the melee route. The more -interval you have, the faster you hit. Beware though, the -interval equipment isn't cheap, and you need a lot of -interval equipment to make a difference.

There's a big venomancer sub-forum if you're looking for guides. They're pretty much stickied at the top.

I would like to know more about this fox form. Is it similar to the wow feral druid? (which was one of my favorite classes in that game). Is the fox form just something you slip into here and there for certain situations, or something you can use more permanently and is it worth it.

i have no idea about WoW, having never played it.

fox form, like most everything else veno-related, can be played any number of ways. you CAN just slip into it very rarely, to increase your phys def considerably and run away from something; some of the fox-specific skills will help you survive, then. or, you CAN build your veno with heavy or even just light armor (heavy armor veno builds are very tricky and expensive, though, so beware) and use it primarily as a melee fighter with some magic skills and of course the pets. as i understand it, most such players spend most of their time in fox.

look in the veno forum for heavy armor veno build guides, or ask around for some light armor build advice. then read the skill descriptions on ecatomb, try to work out for yourself how you'd use the fox tree skills in melee.
