Negativity

As a break from my normal "Game is dead" posts and other assorted troll posts, I bring you this.

While I may be known for my negativity, and perhaps may be one of the most infamous, let me assure you that the "Disgruntled with the Game" club is bustling with activity. We are not lonely, and one might even go as far as to say that the number of regular forum posters that are unhappy with some aspect of the game's poor management outnumber the number of regular forum posters that are completely satisfied with the game entirely.

Now, to be fair, people are more inclined to give negative feedback than to give positive feedback. I am not blind to this. However, the sheer amount of people who would love to see this game the way it was over a year ago is startling.

A year and a half ago, we did not have all of this strife and dissension. We had the occasional "Nixes suck" thread, but for the most part, there were no major issues with the game.

Even when the genies came out, they had a few rough edges, but they were generally appreciated. The Age of Spirits expansion as a whole was a positive addition to this game. I believe that was when we got auto-pathing, which was a huge step forward for this game.

But then, genie skills were changed around and GMs offered restat scrolls for free. Eventually the GMs took it away without notice, and people who didn't take advantage of the offer yet were upset. It was like our current DQ price scandal divided by 50. People were upset, yeah, but not even close to the degree they are now.

Time progressed. Anniversary packs came out. Cool. Time passes. Anniversary packs are back. Hundreds of pages of upset players post. The thread is ultimately ignored and PWI starts pumping more and more packs into the system. This marks the beginning of the decline of this game.

A year goes by. Hardly a week was had without a pack sale. They are repackaged, watered down, people still buy them. Oracles are sold directly in the boutique. ("There will never be EXP items in the Boutique.") We begin to finally realize that PWE does not care about what we have to say. They are just interested in a profit margin.

Then we come to where the game has been for the past few months. DQ prices drop, armor gives less chi when decomposed, TT ruined, TW ruined, UI ruined, every patch that comes out has a bug and we're lucky if the next patch fixes it.

PWE is never afraid to give us the runaround when it comes to stuff like the DQ price reduction. That happened because of China, blame them! But they remain eerily quiet on hundreds of pages of people complaining about packs, because we know they can control that.

Anything with a negative tone is locked. Anything having remotely the same subject as another thread gets merged. Does the company not find it even remotely disturbing that they **** up so bad we have to have stickied threads about it? The threads reach hundreds of pages, get ignored, and then eventually just go away.

It's a rather unsettling trend really. Stickies used to be reserved for updates, events, you know, fun stuff. Now we have to take our well thought out opinion to the trash heap so it can get ignored.

Now, this brings me to my main point: Is it my fault I'm so negative? Or is it my fault that I display my negativity in such a way?

You have so many customers that are unhappy with what you're doing to this game. I used to post passionately about you guys ruining the game, trying to make you see what you're doing. But after a year of being ignored, I finally gave up. I resorted to posting "The game is dead." because you've just hurt your playerbase time and time again to the point of us being so untrusting and cynical.

You did this to yourself. You've abused us to the point where we've lost hope for the game we once loved. Am I wrong? Do you think I just one day woke up and decided to start bashing on GMs?

--

Prove you're not shallow GMs and mods. Don't move this or lock this. I stated all of my opinions in a very factual and calm manner. This is not flamebait, but it is criticism. Show us you can take a little negativity. I hope you can use it to improve, but I won't hold my breath. You've shown us in the past that you don't take criticism seriously.

But prove me wrong. Keep this thread open for discussion regarding the community. I think it might be healthy.

If you are mature enough to do that one small favor for yourselves, I promise to be more mature myself, and only post my opinions with facts and statements to back them up.

The game is not dead. But it will be soon if you do not act. The sky is falling.

    in before lock.

the game is dead, it has been for quite a while now... and will just keep dying especially when some other games come out soon.

edit: PWE don't care about pwi because they have a new game coming out which will 'replace' pwi as their flagship game- so of course they try and get as much money here as possible now while not caring if they kill the game.

I only play about 2 hrs max now. BH, Cube.

The rest of the time that I am logged in, I afk in a catshop and merch. Sadly though, I've been thinking, "Whats the point in merching if this game continues to punch your lights out?"

Most forum regulars are the kind that are usually very opinionated and will complain about anything. They already spend more time on the forums than the game, so their opinions don't really matter. Most of the complaints also come from them, and that's why they're usually ignored.

I am only on the forums because I can't play at work. I can say the same for many other regular forumners. b:surrender

If I had better things to do like "work" than I would not be on here. I will admit though, being on other forums this one is very responsive and very very fast loading.

Other major gaming corps I find have slower forums.

Very well written post in my opinion. Currently there are two kinds of problems with the game: something that GMs/devs might chance and something that will not be chanced or cannot be changed (ie. damage is already done). I'll list a few things from both categories.

things that can be changed: TT 3-x bosses, Nirvana bosses, TW rewards, DQ price
things that can't be changed: packs, gold prices (debatable), oracles, hypers and... TW

Devs can decide to bring back the normal TW pay back, as well as 'nerf' Nirvana and TT3-3 bosses. Same with the DQ prices. Someone can sue PWE for illegal gambling or something so the packs get removed. Oracles can be taken out of the game, same with hypers. Gold prices will not go down though.

Anyway, even if that happened the damage is already done. Tons of 90+ noobs, gears can be bought with money with ease since the pack items are still here and gold prices are high. And most importantly; TW is dead. Even if TW pay and easy TT bosses got back it wouldn't change that much. People who quit are not returning easily. They would have to have some kind of incentive for them to do so. And that incentive wouldn't be bringing TW pay back.

Its a free to play game people, maybe not all of it, but nothing is truly free anyway. A lot of people don't like the quality of Walmart goods either, but still keep shopping there because is cheep.

Well done, NightRage, you broke away from that Chicken Little stance of yours to form a very concise, well-written post explaining why exactly you are disgruntled with the game.

You aren't the only one either.

I used to actively play the game at the same time as actively stalking the forums. Both were pretty enjoyable, we had some fun threads that I could read while waiting for people to appear in the instance we were about to run, you know. Normal, usual stuff.

But eh. The game isn't the same any more, and not necessarily in a good way.

Now let me clear this up: I'm not saying I never wanted the game to change. This isn't true, a year and a half ago there were still bugs. Things still needed to be changed. The game was far from perfect and it always has been. But there never seemed to be so much negativity.

I could never, never catch somebody in game complaining about the actual game. Not back then. These days however... these days the complaints are rife wherever you go. Forums, or in the game itself. People I never see on forums complain, people in my faction ask for change because they are unhappy. It's true that the forum-goers are the minority and this is why we seem so ignored, because there are apparently statistics elsewhere that prove our opinions wrong or belittle them, but it's not only the forum goers. You would be equally wrong to assume that people off the forums are not at all upset.

I've watched smaller guilds start to fall apart at the seams, and I expect it. I watch larger guilds, level three guilds with a hundred people or more - all who used to be active - fall apart, and I know that things have not all changed for the better.

TT needed to be more difficult. I agree.
3-1 Colluseat (I think it's this boss if memory serves me correctly) should not be harder then his 3-3 version.

The economy needed help to try and fix itself. I agree.
The TW change should not have been even half used as a scapegoat for this. The changes in packs were a baby step in the right direction, but that is a change too little, too late.

There are plenty of changes I can agree with, or certainly the idea behind them. I can see why things need to change. I disagree however, sometimes wholeheartedly, with how these changes end up being made. I'm sure I'm not the only person.

The new development team that came in roughly around the time of the anniversary did a great job with the Raging Tide expansion. New classes, new places to visit that are undeniably pretty (in my eyes, anyway) and a new instant for the end-gamers. It wasn't a bad expansion pack.
It just broke a lot of things, some of which have yet to be fixed. You can expect that in any expansion, but you can also expect them to be fixed if enough people notice them. Yet... no, not here.

Then we have the changes that weren't needed. The UI, for example. There was no need for that change. Who was complaining enough about the UI they had to overhaul the whole thing? Who? I'd love to know.

It's a shambles. Some people complain too much, yes. Others don't think anything is wrong and I reckon these are the newer players who never played the game before the anniversary packs. Others still just don't say anything, because what can they say that hasn't been said before? What can they say that would make a difference?

NightRage, I am on the same page as you. I may not have spent the same amount of money as you have *wink* but I have been a devout player of PW until recently.

What funny is that those who complain about the complainers, are usually just doing it for the sake of trolling. Meanwhile, those who are complaining are upset because their chosen form of entertainment (nothing wrong with being a gamer, gtf over it already), has been slowly been ruined, ignored and twisted in ways I never thought possible.

I cant wait till this game tanks really. Maybe then someone will take the content, open up their own server and roll with it without **** it up. (Without 3000 rate xp or 1 click lvl 100 bullcrap)

There might be exceptions to the rule, but just about every successful game, especially of the F2P variety, have a ton of QQ posts, unless they strictly moderate/delete them. PWE is pretty lenient about what they allow on their forums, and working for this very industry, I realized there's no way to stop malcontents from being, well, malcontent. I'm sure a good portion of those who aren't regular posters but regularly read know the extremely vocal minority who constantly bash PWE just because they got bored of the game.

However, that's not a disagreement that PWE has failed with the progression of PWI, focusing more (to an incredibly high ratio) on their cash shop than fixing bugs, modifying dungeons they already created and modified to make them significantly harder for non-CSers opposed to creating new content that would be more difficult and geared toward CSers. It indeed looks obvious that PWE are milking this game to prepare people to flock to Forsaken World. And while I will try out FW with my girlfriend, mostly because she just wants to try it before blasting it, I am extremely skeptical that they won't treat it like PWI, and anticipate playing other games if/when they do come out.
