Buy Pet Skills vs. Tame new pet

I've got my scorpion that I tamed at level 2 that is now level 20. I have also tamed a higher level scorpion that is now also level 20. When comparing the two, the original scorpion has better stats but the new scorpion has better skills.
Is it worth spending the coin to upgrade skills on the original scorpion, or should I save the coin and switch to the new one (even though it has lower attributes)? Right now the attribute differences don't seem worth the several hundred thousand coin cost in skill differences. But at higher level, I'm not sure.
Also, I'm playing with the different pets to get a feel for how their different skills work so when I do decide to purchase skills, I make an informed choice.

it's pretty much your own call on what you think your coin's worth, but i think you've discovered the old veno pet rule of thumb: you can buy skills, you can't buy stats.
speaking for myself, i go with stats if it's a pet i see myself using regularly --- one that's not likely to fall very far behind in levels, or at least one i'll eventually level back up again; those, to me, are worth the cost of the skills. pets i can't be bothered leveling i just catch the highest-level version of i can get at the time, use while i need them, then replace.
in your particular case, i'd recommend staying with the better-stat'ed scorpion. by the time you can afford the skill upgrades for it, i think its stats will be such that you'd regret having gone with the other one. but that's assuming you think and judge more or less as i do, your opinion might differ.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
The level 2 scorpion is the greatest non-cash Damage Dealer in game, along with the Dark Wanderer ( lvl 10 mob, island of broken dreams). I would recommend you keep it if you brought it up to lvl 20, and to level and add some nice skills to it. Bash is great, so you can keep it and level it, also a strong would be great, as the scorp might need the extra protection.
I shall let the other, more experienced venos tell you what to add on it for the last 2 skill slots.
The difference in stats will become greater as you level up, and I much rather have the better stats, which you cannot buy. b:victory

Scorpion is perfect for those DD moments when you aren't hitting hard enough and/or the boss isn't AOEing. Other than grinding and things, I wouldn't use the scorpion at all unless your willing to get a damn good pet heal and magic attack. That of course is up to you, though.
On to the topic, the level two will always be better than that level twenty as you go up and up. Skills are expensive. Ecspecially if your upgrading them. Personally, I'd stick with the level two. It's not my job to shut you down on a suggestion. It's a pleasure, though.0
