My early impressions as a (herc) veno.

Unfortunately this seems to have become an unavoidable side to playing veno. Trust me, unherc'ed venos get more than their fair share of discrimination and unearned hostility. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using an herc, it is without a doubt an awesome pet and has unmatched capabilities. Having an herc is no more a sign of being a bad player than not having one. I welcome herc'ed venos in the squads i'm in just as much as unherc'ed, their skill level and posible contributions to a squad (other than in a handful of scenarios) have nothing to do with what pets they've chosen. Yes, an herc'ed veno can solo a large part of the game's content, i'm talking about squads.

This is unfortunately what our inability to reach consensus as a comunity has brought us to. All the arrogance and entitlement of some players (once again, many not even venos) has provoked others to retaliate with hostility. The end result is you now have to expect to be mistreated no matter what pet you choose.

An herc is a sizable investment, but should allow venos who CHOOSE to make it great oportunities. I'm not talking about more efficient grinding/farming but about being able to substitute roles and classes that for whatever reason may not be available to a squad. Having a herc in a squad should be something of a treat, and not a duty for venos as unfortunately it seems to have become for many. Until the larger part of the player base is once again reminded games are suposed to be fun, and that they have no bussiness messing with how people gear their chars, other than perhaps a minimum competence standard, things are likely to continue their present course.

People want venos to have a herc after 80. It's the same as a high-aps build with Deicides for BMs. If you could have relatively high aps at 80 (2 unsparked or so) you would be somewhat expected to have it if the cost was even close to the cost of the herc. At 100+ herc is expected all the time just like a BM is expected to have Lunar claws/TT100 fists.

I guess I should have said I honestly don't care which pets a veno in my squad has or anything like that. I know that at 100 people expect me to have high aps build but at this rate, I will not have it.

You do not have to (and should not have to either) live up to people's expectations. Doesn't mean you can go to 95+ FCC with 5x NPC gear and ask them why they kicked you out. Decent gears are enough and a herc should not be included to those.

Yeah, your personal opinion wasn't terribly clear from that post. :P I assumed you were arguing against MANray there due to your overuse of the word "expect." It's... kinda overused a lot by people who really do expect such things from each other. -_- Sorry about that, then.

I think it was mostly cus of ur lvl..... I didnt get mine til 80ish and most people who knew about it knew i worked my *** off to get him. But as someone previously said some of the lowbies dont take into account u might have another charc. who is higher and could afford it.

fb69 = kill Pyro. I did it lvl70. I call pyro "The big man". I know pole is HUGE, but I'll always remember pyro as my first big bad elite boss I sucessefully solo'd.

And I cannot tank/solo Pole for obvious reasons.

Well let me clerify since I know why you said that now..

Spiritual Cultivation quest is to kil pyro. My bad for confusing you with sayinf fb69, which is to kill all of them.

Herc venos do get ragged on pretty bad. I personally don't have a problem with them as long as they aren't rubbing it in my face. A friend let me use their herc veno, it was quite an experience, soloing FB51 was quite fun, none of my pets can actually do it. one of my best friends is a 101 herc veno in cala, I've known her forever, and she helps me out a great deal when I need it. I love fighting herc venos, it provides a real chalenge. my sin has some issues still with high level pets (61 vs 85 last time, got through half the hp) but in general all of them are awesome, I just found veno to be far too borring for me, thus my Psychic now.
