    -.-" Another demon/sage thread...
Well firstly, look in the link on the post above this one, and if you can't decide by then, seriously, just close your eyes and pick one. Unlike an Archer, where one culti (demon) is better than the other, the pros and cons of sage and demon clerics cancel each other out. I'll give you one example.
Sage clerics can build up chi quickly with their Master Li's technique (50 chi/minute), but they use it quicky with purify and plume shell, which don't have chi costs reduced. Demon clerics, while not having a specified chi skill, have demon wellspring to get 30 chi per cast. Also, chi cost for purify is made to 0, and plume shell chi cost is cut in half.

That was just one example, but if you sit down and compare the skills carefully, you'll find that there's really no big sway point to make you go one culti over the other.

    Fixed.

If you're a demon cleric don't rely on wellspring to get chi. Use vanguard on yourself or cloud erupt.

And no, sage clerics cannot build up chi faster with the sage chi skill due to it being a 60 second cooldown and demons having vanguard. which gets that and more in roughly 5-15 seconds. There's obviously no mp used to cast the chi skill, which is the only benefit to that. It's highly erroneous to say though that sages build chi faster.

The sage skills that I found making sage cleric fun are 1. ironheart (for monster heals), 2. metal mastery (for 5% more passive dmg), 3. magic shell (to constantly give yourself or some other magic user a RB-like channeling increase). The demon skills I found making demon cleric fun are 1. ironheart (increased heals, not nearly as much as sage, but always a good thing to heal more hp), 2. wield thunder (damage, metal debuff, and more damage), 3. tempest (more dmg, freezing enemies), 3. stream of rejuvination (not only much stronger than level 10 but also adds 100% phys def on target for a while [comparable to a sage throwing stream and then doing a vanguard spirit on target], perfect for those times where in like a 3-3 or Nirvana when you need to catch up on heals for some reason), 4. vanguard spirit (making you like a veno to give chi to yourself or others, I used this a lot in BH Metal on Archers, or on myself in FF when we had no veno).

There are other decent reasons to go one or the other but in the end it depends only on which skills you prefer to have which bonuses for, all surrounding your style of gameplay. Ignore people who use generalities surrounding sage/demon.

I went demon, and have not regretted it. I don't have 100% demon skills yet, but working on it.

Demon IH - love the MP regen. It does not help me much (if I use it on myself, IH then TECHNICALLY only costs me 100 MP per cast. It costs 400, but recovers 300, so meh.....). Tanks will love you though. I can keep up an archers Barrage, Wizzy's Dragons Breath, Clerics BB or RB just by healing them with demon IH, and their little blue bar will NEVER drop (much less their spirt charm tick, or have to use pots).

Demon RES - 3 second cast time. Cutting res in half means less chance of tank dieing if the archer nearly caused a party wipe when they didn't hold back after being warned. It is nice to not have to worry about not getting the res off in time.

Demon Spirits Gift - Increased mag attack. When I was pure arcane (I recently put 100 into VIT), I had a max mag attack of over 16K when buffed with the spirits gift add.

Demon vanguard and magic shell - can build up my chi (or anyone elses for that matter) really fast. Both of those skills have a 25% chance to grant both me, and target an additional 25% chi, or something like that. Barb dies, res him, buff him, then hold vanguard on him, and you BOTH will have full chi in under a minute (on average).

I have not once regretted going demon.

Maybe it depends on who you're healing but with demon IH, neither me nor my girlfriend have got any compliments on having demon IH. This used to be quite common in days of yore. Nonetheless, we didn't get demon IH for healing MP as neither of us felt we should need to babysit someone's MP bar. Indeed the upside is, especially when casting on yourself, is you don't lose as much mp in the long run, since you gain most of it back.

I also sadly forgot demon rez. Sage rez is very good too.. any level 11 is awesome, but the half channeling has been the difference between having to do certain bosses over again and quickly getting essential people back up to finish. Without a doubt essential for TW and big instances.

as a barb i can tell you, demon IH will make every tank LOVE you.

as a barb i ca definityly say i would MUCH rather have a demon cleric in the squad than a sage
as will demon stream of rejuv. is just epic as well

demon weild thunder gives a wonderful -metal resist debuff

demon spark will allow you to stack IH alot more times becuase of the -25% channeling as well as the extra heal from sparked IH.

in almost every circumstance demon res is better as the extra range wont really do u any good in a squad in pretty much anything other than TW

In my opinion the ONLY thing sage clerics have over demon is sage chromatic healing beam. on almost everything else demon wins hands down.

    Go demon.
Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.

The way I would look at this is to look at what skills they use the most if mostly support and buffs then maybe Sage is for you. When you take attack skills and buff then support skills maybe Demon is for you.It gets down to how you play your role in instances being in squad.

This is what I am pondering about how I want to play my role as of up to now it has mostly been support healing and buffing with the occasional attacks.I am thinking of going more offensive but is that the way i really want to go is what I am asking myself.
Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

Sage IH heals more than demon IH. Why the demon version make tanks love the cleric more than the sage version? Because of the mana regen?.... buy pots plox

A lot more times = 1 more IH in that 15sec timeframe.

*: wellspring, vanguard, magic shell, the two def debuffs.

...and I'm a demon cleric... so I'm not biased towards sage.
I love when non-clerics jump into a cleric thread just to write biased opinions... -.-
