I'm not sure whether i would be better off using citrine, garnet or both in my armor? I do a vit/mage build if that has any influence on which i should use. :)

I know this doesn't relate to the topic but could someone tell me if i should be statting my character differently? I currently do 6mag, 3vit and 1str every 2 levels, but i rececntly heard someone mention capping vitality at a certain point, i'v got 205mag, 103vit, 33str and 5dex with the extras from my equipment should i stop adding to vitalitly and put the points in magic instead?

I would really appreciate some advice please :)

Stating your char for venos can be done several ways based on how you want to play. Everyone appears to prefer their own build or combine things from various builds creating a type of "hybrid."

Str wise I'd suggest just enough for your gear. People decide to cap vit whenever/wherever they want that's comfortable with them.

I'd suggest you look at your gear and what your defenses are and what's your weak point. As a vit/mage you'll most likely be the most lacking in phy defense which would suggest that you shard with garnets to make up the difference.

Some also do a mix'd sharding of 80% one shard 20% another (ie all armor is garnets but cape/helm are cits).

Personally I'd look at what you're weakest in and work to minimize that.

Another question you need to ask yourself (as you aren't using your avatar I don't know what server you're on) is are you on a PvE or PvP server. If you're PvE server are you planning to TW and PK at some point. IF you're already on a PvP server minimize your weakest part of your gear.

Full vit represents a strong commitment towards heavy defense and is a build usually geared for PvP which is more demanding on this area. If your gameplay is mostly PvE oriented or you would like something more balanced in terms of attack you should certainly stop adding vit, as already you're somewhat past the point most venos doing an hybrid build would generally stop at. 50-75 vit is generally the norm although some venos will aim for a set hp figure (say, 3k at lvl 80) or will simply add vit whenever they feel their char has become more fragile.

Given your current build, garnets to raise your phys def would benefit you the most, although if i'm not mistaken you must be at around the 6x level range at which it's certainly not worth it to invest on sharding. Personally i would recommend that you waited until 8x before you start sharding anything other than what you may get in quests or the ocassional bargain already sharded piece of gear. Weapon is an exception of course.

Solandri has contributed some very good work on resolving the issue of wether adding hp or phys def are more convenient for any given spec http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=342691&page=5 . If you feel you must improve your survivability through gear i would recommend low level refines as a usually cheaper and more convenient alternative to sharding. A +2 or maybe +3 refine on your phys def ornaments should be cheaper than sharding a couple of pieces of armor with average stones although i'll point out you may want to work more on improving your damage output, investing perhaps on a better set of rings and adequately sharding/refining your weapon. I wouldn't recommend you try investing much on these however, you should save as much of your resources as you can for higher levels.

I'm on Raging Tide and i havn't tried doing PVP or TW yet, i was thinking i might like to try it at a later stage. I'm still trying to work out how to play my character properly and recognise how the other classes work before i give that stuff a go :)

    Thanks again! b:thanks
