What can you decompose?

I am new to the game, and people in game said to get chi stones for your genie you can decompose looted gear instead of selling it. So I did the starting quests for tailor, got the 2 logs, learned the skill, but when i go to the tailor and hit the decompose option and put the item in there the start button is greyed out. Can you only decompose certain types of gear or what?

At a tailor, the only things you can decompose are armors - aka helmet, chest, legs, boots, or sleeves.

You also need to make sure your tailor level is high enough to cover the level of the equipment.

It's armor I am trying to decompose and it's lvl 1 req gear... It doesn't say the tailor skill isn't high enough so I don't know how to tell if that is it.

Hmm - have you repaired the armor to complete duribility? I can't remember if that would cause it to be greyed out.

Item has to be fully repaired before you can decompose it. And since looted gear comes with 1/2 max durability. You have to repair every single time you want to decompose a piece of looted gear.

idt low lvl items decop into anything.

if i'm not mistaking it's lvl 2 or 3 items and up.

Yeah I was able to get it, some of the really low stuff just wouldn't decompose. I didn't have to repair to do it, but repairing did yield more stones. At my low level I need the money more than 3 more chi stones.

I need 15 yiyuan stone. to get this i have to decompose silver spear. if i try to decompose it by an blacksmith start button turn grey and it says requires blacksmith lvl 2. what can i do to lvl up blacksmiht skill?

Talk to a blacksmith in any city, and find the option, "Manufacture weapons".

If I'm not wrong, some blacksmiths in certain cities don't allow you to make level 2 weapons (Level 1 blacksmith makes level 2 weapons, level 2 blacksmith makes level 3 weapons and so on), so it will be best if you talk to one in the beginner cities (City of Plume/City of Lost/Etherblade)

Then, click on an item you want to make, and see what is requires (The materials needed). If you had saved the materials in your bank before, then you can save precious time from hunting again, if not you have to hunt for them from monsters again.

However, Jades and broken jades can be bought from Merchants, so you don't have to hunt for that one (gonna take you a long time).

also makin your gear and it turns out to be 2star, that boosts up the stones by a lot, like from 3 with a a 1 star to 150-200 with the same item that is a 2 star

lv1 gear cannot be decomped
