Why does Safety Lock allow players to pick up items?

I mean seriously if they just disabled up picking items as well for safety lock, there wouldn't be so many people using it. Instead they had to invent this stupid shatter system where it becomes useless now cuz all lands gives out mirages. Of course they might have had a valid reason for not implementing it in the safety lock, but why haven't they? I mean cmon it shouldve crossed their minds before.

Agreed, SL should also have penatlies other then shattering.
But I doubt PW cares tbh. Well actually it would make people buy more dolls so they should implant this idea.0 -

completly remove safety lock
and
pk mode item drop upon death is removed.Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.0 -

That would be complete BS; it would remove the reason to PK in the first place! The game was designed so that if you're red, you drop. There are ways to stop from loosing your most important things, and this is called binding or carrying (formerly dolls) scrolls. Safety lock exists so people can prevent hackers & other unauthorized people who access their account from taking all their stuff. Which imo is ridiculous as they can just wait for sl to go off and tada now they can take everything
And you should shatter every time you die on multiple pieces of gear, as if you are red and dont have doll or **** sl on, you would lose a lot of stuff, sl is by far the most moronic thing in the game.0 -

Removing SL would kill at least half of the PvP on a PvE server. GAs are too expensive for hyper noobs who can't even afford their gear.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

either learn to use SL or go find another game. Pvp on pvp servers are dead as it is, giving SL more penalties would be the stupidest thing PWI could do in regards to the pvp aspect of the game (unless they made dolls 75% or so cheaper).
Besides what does it matter to the OP if another person uses SL? they'd just bound their gear if SL wasn't an option, it's not like ur gonna be getting any drops. As a matter a fact ur more likely to get someone's drops if they forget to reset the SL while in pvp. Without SL ur 99% of the time gonna get squat from drops since they'd be bound.0 -

Safety lock took all the fun out of PVP. PWI without PVP is a joke. That is why right after safety lock was changed I quit playing. Now I only log in when the damn woman nags me to death and its for 5-10 minutes then I get the hell off this horrible game.

They have a safe service code which you can implement, haven't tested it out fully yet and don't know how effective it is yet. Basically you have to enter a password to get to your items in the banker, fyi. I think it doesnt allow you to remove gear from your inventory as well.

I'm fine with people using the safety lock, i just find it insanely stupid that they're allowed to loot the players that they pk, while if they die they have a 100 percent guarantee of not dropping anything. ANd no i don't think pvp will go down if they just implemented this one feature because you could always go and pvp for fun, just that your not allowed to pick up the person's loot. Of course there are the issues of having some lowbie trailing you on a second computer and picking up your victim's stuff. So maybe people pked by people with safety lock aren't allowed to drop stuff? I don't know, it just gets complicated, I just want people with sl unable to pick up ****b:angry
edit: yea they're bound to bind everything after if there wasn't a sl to use, uhhh i don't have a good argument against that yet...
2nd edit: reread the posts and I completely agree with sparc about the way people are using safety lock. If people are afraid of losing their stuff, it's their fault for pking in the first place. Besides safety lock allows people like levii to just randomly pk without a care in the world, at least make them earn that stupid carefree pk by binding their gear. I thought you guys "hated" people who don't earn their stuff -_-.0 -

imagine how many people will stop pvping (or avoid it in PvP servers)
want to know why most people don't like PK? I mean, not those "same faces" of elite ones on the server. Because they don't like getting owned. Most of them. And the rest who do go into PvP mode only do it because they can't lose their stuff.

I don't understand. Why complain about sl when you can.... You know... Use it for free? That's like saying "I don't want to use a mount, so no one else should be able to either"
And I thought the point of pking was to test your abilities against a living, thinking opponent. Not to just try and get their gear. He'll, I'd even say you'd see a lot more pkers if you didn't drop gear on death. Instead of items dropping, make it where the redder you are the higher chance of shattering (avoidable by using GAs). That'll still give a punishment for being red.
There are many games out there that have other systems for pk besides drops, so don't say that's the only reason people pk (aka they have karma systems.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

last time i checked pk was something fun
if i want gear i farm it... wheres the point?
dropping stuff sucks
more people would pk if there were no drops enabled at all (so no need for sl either, witch is annoying as it is for anything else but pk)
i guess you cash your dolls or have all your gear bound so you can farm poor people

Ehh I just like to kill people, I couldn't give a rat's *** about your gear/items that end up on the ground, frankly I don't want them anyway I'd rather earn all my equip.
But I can tell you that when I pk I do exploit the lock, I do have a reasonably absurd timer on it and even if I don't care about your items that you dropped, I'm 10x less likely to leave my pc on and let lock dwindle away just so I can hand it back.
Pk w/o drops is wonderful imo, I prefer the game play against other people since there's still a fair lack of things to actually do in game to either make money for gear or do something for fun.
Let's face it, not many find playing with mobs to be of any interest once you've capped off your leveling to a large extent. The quest lines are boring, and unless you have some decent connections you're not filling a large quota of your piggy bank daily here w/o creating a second account to sit as your catshop and play who's the better under cutter.

turn on lock and enjoy not running instances where you may need to hand off an item
A "hardcore" gamer has the time to sit here, set up shop, log another account, sit around waiting for runs in chat, but the average player... rofl gl with that I'd say at around 7-9x the general gamer bails or hyper's up then says mmmm yea I'm bored and leaves for something with some actual entertainment value.

12something2 (maybe Asomethingka too) have the best pvp systems. Kill players to get the rarest items in game from drops (just like boss drops). Players don't lose anything, the game makes it all. How are you supposed to pvp when all your good items are gone or shattered? You just get weaker/poorer each time.0
